DOCUMENT OVERVIEW
This document has been designed to assist in the installation and configuration of the Arrow Product Suite. The Checklist section of this document outlines the steps required to install and configure each of the products in the Arrow Product suite. Each point references other materials and help information that may be required when completing those steps. The Installation section of this document steps through each installation found on the CD, explaining and making recommendations on all installation options. Throughout the document there are references to assist in the setting up of the Sales Demonstration workstations. These recommendations are identified in the colour red. This document, along with the Online user manual and Document libraries FAQ documents will enable Arrow to be installed onsite, or assist in the installation and setup of demonstration workstations and support systems.

This company contains a demonstration dataset registered for ArrowShop, ArrowSAM and ArrowLink. It would be used to demonstrate these applications after the relevant configuration has been completed in the database. If this feature has been selected for installation, it is assumed instructions pertinent to the Sales Demonstration datasets have been followed during the installation of ArrowShop, ArrowSAM and ArrowLink. The following are the paths to the Arrowlink, ArrowSAM and ArrowShop databases expected by this dataset ArrowLink ArrowShop ArrowSAM C:\arrow\dem@link C:\dem@shop\data C:\dem@sam\data
If the installation directories do not to meet these criteria then the following programs must be run and configured from the Arrowlink module in Arrow Financials after the company and these applications are installed Maintain ArrowLink Parameters Maintain ArrowShop Parameters Maintain ArrowSam Parameters Maintain ArrowLink Processes (the path on each process should be altered) Extended General Ledger This company contains a demonstration dataset registered and configured for the Extended General Ledger module. General Ledger accounts will be in the format of 2.2.4.2. Single Location This company contains a demonstration dataset not registered for Multi-Warehousing. This avoids any stock location pop-up entry screens occurring during processing in Arrow Financials. NOTE: The option for Maintaining and viewing master file notes has been set to NO in all three companies to avoid the pop up programs during a demonstration. Before beginning the Arrow Sales Demonstration Installation ensure Arrow Financials has been installed and the following features chosen during that installation. Arrow Manual Visual Arrow Multi-Company Data Files

If ArrowShop and ArrowSAM are to be demonstrated please ensure that the demonstration databases are installed during the ArrowShop, ArrowLink, and ArrowSAM installations. These installations should be run after the Sales Demo databases install. The Installation program will override files in the arr@data directory. Ensure that the arr@data directory that will be chosen during the installation process does not contain live data or data that is required to be kept.
1) From the Arrow Production CD launch the installation of Arrow Sales Demonstration Datasets.
(Notes on the installation of Arrow Sales Demo Datasets can be found in the installation section of this document. Click here to view these notes found on page 15.)
In addition to installing the Arrow suite of products with the Arrow data sets we recommend you install the following to enable effective demonstration of external reporting: Crystal Report with the demonstration Crystal Reports ODBC driver (for standard Dataflex sites) with Excel

machine (example SQLSERVER). In some cases, the SQL Server instance name will be the server name plus an instance name (example SQLSERVER\SQL2000). The name of the Microsoft SQL Server name can be found by running any of the Microsoft SQL server utilities. SUPPORT NOTE If an incorrect SQL server or database name is provided at this point Arrow Financials will not function at all. These values are written to SQL INT files that make it necessary for these applications to operate. Please make a record of the SQL Server name and the Database name entered. The database name chosen is a logical name by which the SQL Server will know the SQL database. Care should be used in selecting a name that it does not conflict with any existing names used by the SQL server. This will also decide the name of the MDF (SQL Database Container) and populate the INT files from the installation with the database name specified. The SQL Database name for the SQL databases must comply with the Microsoft SQL server naming rules, and you should write down the chosen name for later reference. The Demonstration Database (if installed) is always called ARROWDEMO. The Practise Pack Database (if installed) is always called ARROWPRAC.
Click Install to begin the installation. After this file is closed, restarting the system will complete the installation. A re-boot of the server must be done at this point in time to guarantee that any registry keys or environment variables set during the installation are recognized.

The Arrow Manual feature will install the Online Arrow User manual into the Windows\Help directory of the workstation. An icon is also created in the Program item group called Arrow Financials The Arrow SQL Client feature will modify the workspace registry key to open an SQL database as opposed to the native Dataflex database format. The Local Programs option can be used to copy the Visual Arrow programs from the server from which they are hosted to be run locally for the specific workstation. This required all users are out of the server version of Arrow Financials for the copy to be successful. Selecting this option will require a destination path for the local programs later in the install process. By default the workstation install will create a Visual Arrow shortcut in the Arrow Financials start menu program group. Additional shortcuts for a Visual Arrow Demonstration system and Practice pack can be added into this start menu program group. The Visual Arrow icon can also be selected to have a shortcut placed on the users desktop. The Visual Arrow Demo feature will create a workspace registry key and an icon in the Arrow Financials program group to launch Visual Arrow with the Demonstration data found in the arr@demo directory. The Practice Pack feature will create a workspace registry key and an icon in the Arrow Financials program group to launch the Practice pack in Visual Arrow. It will also create an icon to link to the PracticePack.PDF document that runs through the practice pack facility.
