THE BEST TEMPLE

We are all human beings, and we have our own physical bodies. We are all created by God through His image and likeness. Our physical body is a gift from God because He wants us to live and experience life here on earth. If not because of our human bodies which came from the wisdom and love of God, we do not exist at all. But what makes our body more special? It is the temple of the Holy Spirit. What does that mean? First, during the early years of Christianity, temple is a place where people worship

God. In our language today, we may call it the churches that we have around us. Holy Spirit, being the third person in the Holy Trinity, lies inside our body. We have life, we can breathe and we have soul because of the Holy Spirit. And since our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, we should glorify God through our bodies. But how do we do that? As young as we are, we can glorify God through our bodies by praying, dancing, singing, acting, playing with our friends, and a lot more other things. But before we can do all of these, we must take good care of our bodies first. We must be strong too just like the bible characters that we know like David, Jonah, King Solomon, and a lot more others. The great people of the bible were used by God and were able to do a lot of great things because first, they took care of their bodies. In everything that we do with our bodies, it should be like giving thanks to Him. Just like getting your own favorite toy as a gift. When someone gave you something that you really like, you make sure that you take good care of it. You make sure that it is placed properly in a safe place, you make sure that you can see it even from a far, you make sure that it is handled with care, etc. You just make sure that your favorite toy is ok and it will be with you for a longer time. The same with our bodies. We should make sure that it is always in good condition because The One who loves us the most gave this to us as a gift. How do we take care of our bodies? 1. Take a bath everyday! It is very important to always smell good. It is normal for us kids to play most of the time together with our friends and perspire a lot. Every time we perspire, we are prone to bad smell that is why we make sure that we take a bath everyday! We make sure that our clothes are clean, we brush our teeth well, we wash our hair thoroughly, making sure that all parts of our body are clean and presentable. 2. We dress properly and appropriately Part of taking care of our bodies is dressing properly. As early as now, we should know how to dress appropriately. Not because we are kids, it is ok to wear spaghetti straps, tube dresses, short shorts, and all the like. We must protect and respect our bodies by wearing proper clothes; decent and proper and suitable.

3. We eat healthy food and practice healthy habits! There is a big tendency for us kids to resist fruits and vegetables. Sometimes, we just dont eat them at all because they do not taste as good as the chickens, beef and pork do. But we have to consider and make sure that we eat a portion of fruits and vegetables every meal because they are all good sources of vitamins and nutrients that we do not get from red and white meat. These are the food that we need to have a healthy body. Nowadays, it is also important to have daily supplements of vitamins and minerals. We should also have some activities from time to time like exercise, helping out in household chores (as a form of exercise), involving ourselves to some sports, and all others. Through these things, we take care of the gift that God has given us which is our body. For KIDS AT PLAY (0-4) Coloring session which suggests taking care of our bodies such as healthy food, exercises, activities, etc. Let them watch a movie that is related to the topic above. For FIRST STEP (5-7) Glitter Hands Some children only rinse their hands quickly under water, if they wash at all. But hands should be scrubbed with an antibacterial soap for at least 15 to 20 seconds. Sprinkle glitter on your child's hands and challenge him off to wash the glitter with soap and water. Because glitter is naturally sticky, it will take up to 30 seconds to scrub the glitter away. Then indicate that your child should scrub off germs like he did the glitter each time that he washes. Dress Code The Catholic Church issued a proper dress code when going to mass. Divide the participants into two groups, mixed gender. Then a picture of specific type of clothing will be shown to kids and they will answer if it is appropriate or not appropriate. One specific type of clothing at a time. ** Refer to attached images for reference

Suggested Activities

Boy and girl goes to market This is inspired by the Mommy goes to market old school game. Boys wear something for man, and girls wear something for a woman. This is a relay. They wear the clothes they need to wear and bring a plastic bag with stuff for boys, a bayong with stuff for girls. The team who finish the relay first wins. Coloring session with Match A to B ** Refer to the handout provided For FOOT STEP (8-10) Glitter Hands Some children only rinse their hands quickly under water, if they wash at all. Hygiene Charades Help kids get the motions right by playing hygiene charades. One child picks an action for hygiene, such as brushing teeth, coughing into a sleeve or taking a shower. Then the child acts out the hygiene habit without using any words. The other children guess what action is being acted out and then you talk about the proper way to do each hygiene habit. Dress Code The Catholic Church issued a proper dress code when going to mass. Divide the participants into two groups, mixed gender. Then a picture of specific type of clothing will be shown to kids and they will answer if it is appropriate or not appropriate. One specific type of clothing at a time. ** Refer to attached images for reference For STEP UP (11-12)

Household Start up Questions: What are the changes that you experience as you grow up? How does it affects you? How do you view it? Short processing: These changes are normal as we grow up. These are signs that we also mature not only psychologically, mentally and intellectually but physically as well. All these are appropriate as we become young adults. Let it happen and be guided well by asking your parents and persons that can guide you well on how to deal with such changes. And also, be mindful of the people around you that are influencing you to engage into bad things (such as drinking, smoking, piercing, etc) that may affect you badly. What are the practical things that you can do to avoid such bad things?

Processing/Conclusion

(Note to the household facilitator: Make sure that you also share them useful practical things to avoid such vices) Our physical body is Gods gift to us. We are all designed according to Gods image and likeness. As a gift, we take our bodies as precious as it should be because we experience life here on earth. As boys and girls, we also have our physical difference. We respect such differences and make sure that we act the way God designed us to be. Everything that we do with our bodies should be our way of thanking God and glorifying Him for the life that we have. And one concrete way of doing this is by taking good care of this God-given gift, the temple of the Holy Spirit.
