Solving Equations

Solving Equations The process of Solving Equations can be done in different ways. It also depends upon the type of equation we have; we have to decide which method must be preferred to get the solution for the given equation. Let us start with the linear equations with one variable. In order to solve such equation, we have to just isolate the variable from the constants. For this we simply have to shift all the terms of the variable to one side and the numerals on the other side of the equation. Let us take an example: 3x + 5 = x +9 Here we observe that the equation has only one variable : x. So the equation is of the degree 1. To shift the values from one side of the equal sign to another side we must remember that a positive value changes to negative value and the negative value changes to a positive. More over the relation of multiplication changes to division and the relation of division changes to multiplication. We also have to remember that the operations of addition and subtraction are performed before the operation of multiplication and division for Solving Equations. In the above equation, we shift x from the right of the equation to the left of the equation, so the equation becomes 3x x + 5 = 9 Or 2x + 5 = 9 Now we have to isolate x, for this we move 5 to the right side of the equation and the equation becomes: 2x = 9 5 Or 2x = 4 Now 2x means 2 and x are multiply, so we need to shift 2 from left side of the equation to the right side of the equation and the relation becomes the relation of division. Thus we get X=4/2 Or x = 2 Let us take another equation in the form of a radical say (x + 5 ) = 5 In order to solve the above given equation, we first have to remove the radical sign . For this we find the square of the both sides of the equation. We find that the in the above equation, on the left side square and the radical cancels and we get X + 5 = 52 Learn More :- What is the Distance Formula

Or x + 5 = 25 Now we simply have to remove 5 from the left side of the equation which becomes -5 and we get: X = 25 5 Or x = 20 Ans. Lets take another equation with a cube root: 3(x + 6 ) = 3 In this equation, we have to remove the cube root of left side of the equation, for this we find cube of both sides of the equation. Cube and cube root of the left of the equation cancels out and we get: ( x + 6 ) = 33 Now we see that 33 = 3 * 3 * 3 = 27 So the equation becomes: X + 6 = 27 Now to isolate x, we need to remove 6 from left side of the equation. For this we can subtract 6 form both sides of the equation and we get : X + 6 6 = 27 6 Or x = 21 Ans. For different types of equations like quadratic equations, equations including log, trigonometric fractions and equations with fractions are all solved in different ways.
