Dennis is reading some information about cats. Read it carefully and choose the best answers for the questions.

Cats were wild animals before they were tamed by humans. It is believed that cats have been connected with humans for at least 9,500 years. In ancient Egypt, cats were religious animals. The ancient Egyptians believed in animal worship. The Egyptian cats were sacred. Anyone who killed them would be put to death. Nowadays, we can still see some Egyptian cat mummies in Egyptian museums. In the old days, people kept cats because they ate mice. Cats have sharp claws and teeth to kill mice. They can hear sounds which are too weak for human ears. Cats can easily hear the sounds mice make and find out where they are. Cats can also see in near darkness. To help them sense better, cats have whiskers on their faces. Whiskers tell them the locations of things in the dark. Cats are also good at smelling, which also helps them find mice easily. Today, in most families, cats no longer need to use their sharp claws to catch mice. They are good companions for people. In fact, cats are the most popular pet in the world. Many people like to have cats as their companions. One of the reasons may be their cleanliness. Cats are clean and they like to be clean. They spend many hours licking their fur. And cats wont disturb you all the time because they sleep a lot. On average, they spend 13 to 14 hours sleeping each day.
