Background information
The NHTV University of Applied Sciences is our client. We will conceptualise, create and print a totally new childrens book for them. Sabrina Uytenbogaart is our contact person at the NHTV. Our team contains out of five diverse people. Thomas Mulder, the project manager, is a perfect leader for the project. He also draws a lot of our characters. Kimberly Manders, the project representative, is a good presenter and thus focuses herself on presenting our concept to the outside world. Marco van Zutphen, the project planner, is a excellent planner and makes sure that everything will be done on time. Rick van der Loo, the project support and the quality manager, is very well in ensuring the quality of the products we make. Anne Moeskops, the creative lead, is the creative brain of the concept. She takes full responsibility of the lay-out of the book. We decided to make a childrens book for children in the age from four till six years old. The main theme of our book is: learning to recognize letters. We want to learn our readers that everything has a word that represents it, and this word consists out of letters. Furthermore, we want to learn our readers the alphabet and we want to trigger the memory of our readers. We will do all of this in a fun and playful manner. The selling point of our book is that this is the only childrens book that combines learning the alphabet in a playful way with the imagination world of children.

Concept Description
The title of our book is: The adventures of Little Zeth. Little Zeth lost his family and he wants to find them back. He begins a search to find his family back. During this search he meets other letters. Characters All the characters in our book represent a letter (except for the animals). The same letters represent one family, so there is an A-family, a B-family etcetera. Little Zeth is the main character of the book. Naturally, he is a Z-family member. Target group We decided to make a childrens book for children in the age from four till six years old. Those children are in the first three grades of the primary school. In the second class of the primary school they learn to recognize letters and in the third class they learn how to write the letters. We want to give them an advantage at primary school by learning them the alphabet in a playful way through our book. Educational values Little Zeth gets a present from every letter he meets during his search. This will be shown in the book as a picture and as the word it represents. In this way the children will see that the picture and the word represent the same thing. Throughout the whole story the children will learn the alphabet, because Little Zeth will visit the families in alphabetical order. At the end of the story, when Little Zeth founds his family he will show all the presents he got. This is the part where the readers can trigger their memory; the children can recall what every present is (for example there will be a picture of an apple and the children will say "Apple"). Lay-out The overall lay-out of our book is colorful and childish. The characters of our book are colored letters that look human, because they have eyes, noses, heads etcetera. The other images are colorful and simple images. The font where our book will be written in is: Keys comic font 1.

The background of the pages of our book will look like a notebook, thus white paper with horizontal lines on it.

Quality Control
The end product will be a childrens book with 30 pages. The quality of the book will be guided in the right direction during the project by assessing the intermediate products with a predetermined set of criteria. The intermediate products will be: the pitch, the concept, the story and the drawings. These products have to of high quality, because that is the norm of our company. The quality manager, Rick van de Loo, will carefully check every intermediate product when these are made or changed. There will be at least one feedback moment with the sponsor during the process of creating. Adding to the feedback on the intermediate products, every week, unconditionally, there will be a short meeting with the sponsor in order to keep the expectations and the production synchronized. Version control will be done by uploading every completed and temporary file to Dropbox. All the final and reviewed files will be uploaded to the NHTV N@tschool designated workspace. Standardized office suites will be used for the creation of the official documents. These suits include MS Office for Windows, MS Office for Mac, Open Office and Libreoffice. The project planning document will be created and maintained with OpenProj. The budgeting analysis will not be done using OpenProj, but instead it will be done using spreadsheets in Excel and/or Calc.

Risks
This project includes all sorts of risks, just as every project. We made sure that we have solutions for every problem that could appear. We made a contract at the start of this project, that is signed by all the team members. Due to this there will be no problems about uncertainties of the team members. The fact that we have to realize everything before the deadlines could be a problem. The solution to this is that all the deadlines are determined before the start of the project. Due to this Marco van Zutphen, the project planner, will make a wide planning. There could arise some technical problems. To prevent our project for these problems we did some precautions. We made sure that we uploaded everything in Dropbox, at our workspace and on our own computers. We used reliable and legal software to make our drawings, Openproj schedule and budget analysis. The publisher could also cause some problems. To avoid these problems we did much research to find the best publisher for our book. We made strict appointments with the publisher and keep close contact with the publisher.

Costs
The project involves man-hours and other costs. The salary of the employees differ, the manager has a higher rate per hour than the other human assets. The costs are estimated as realistic as possible.

Man-hours: Thomas Mulder: Project manager Kimbery Manders: Project Representative Marco van Zutphen: Project Planner Rick van de Loo: Project support & Quality Manager Anne Moeskops: Creative Lead 7 weeks x 8 hours x 22 = 7 weeks x 8 hours x 20 = 7 weeks x 8 hours x 20 = 7 weeks x 8 hours x 20 = 7 weeks x 8 hours x 20 = 1232 1120 1120 1120 1120

Other costs: Renting beamer Prototype printing Book printing Traveling costs Computer Software usage costs 1 per sheet x 300 sheets = 40 300 35 7 weeks x 2 tickets x 5 persons x 14= 490 7 weeks x 8 hours x 5 persons x 0.50 = 140 15 units x 100 per usage = 1500

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The total costs of our project are estimated to be = 8212
