(Eph 2:2-3; James 4:1-8; 1Jn 2:12-17)

Basic Elements of Christian Living

FAITH brings the Christian in relationship with God. Following upon that is the FELLOWSHIP with God. To climb the ladder of success is to manage FINANCE as good steward. To sustain it is the FOOD of a Christian. Ultimate is the FUTURE of a Christian. But between it is the time here in the world, time of struggle on way to Heaven. So is the class on FOES of a Christian. It is essential therefore to know the conflict, the enemy, his power and tactics.

Identify the Foe:

We are told that they are not ONE but THREE.
a) WORLD The External Enemy b) FLESH The Internal Enemy c) DEVIL The Infernal Enemy

Their Combine Attack:

All three every way

Their Constant Attack:

At all times

But Notice also The Three fold Help:

Trinity of Good:
Over against the World:
God the Father

Over against the Flesh:

God the Holy Spirit

Over against the Devil:

God the Son

The Issue Of Conversion

1. World The External Enemy

The System of the World:

Great System, Divided in parts The Political, Religious, Social, Business or Entertainment world. Has a Prince, co-ordinator, He is BEHIND it all. Nothing of God & Christ in it. All under his control.
Cosmos=things done orderly. Means Adorning. Cosmetic. Its appeal and appearance is seductive & will SPOIL you. Ex. Lot (Gen 13) Consider music, sports, dress code, Internet, Cell phones, Serials.

The Seduction of the World

The Snare of the World

1Cor 7, fashion. Casual at meetings. Ex. Demas.

The spirit of the World

Anti-Christ.

Examine:
Initially wont dare to miss a meeting. Slowly drifted away. May be you are growing cold. You alone knows the change. You are not praying May be you are: - Reading too many Papers - Handling too many Periodicals - Watching too many Programs - Attending too many Parties And you are cold. It Controls your activity and Corrupts you. Watch that you dont become victim of it.

2. FleshThe Internal Enemy

a) The DEFINITION of the Flesh:
a. Flesh covering bones b. Human nature Jn 1:14 c. Principle of Evil
a. From Adam b. Though Saved c. Its corrupt, dangerous, always at work.

b) The DEEDS of the Flesh: Gal 5:19
- The Sins of Immorality: flesh delights in, feeds on impure. - The Sins of Idolatry: sorcery & witchcraft

- The Sins of Relationships: jealousy, anger, dissension.

- The Sins of Indulgence: drunkenness

2. FleshThe Internal Enemy

c) The DEFEAT of the Flesh: walk in the spirit - There is Path to Walk - There is Power in the Spirit - There is Promise The Holy Spirit can be easily grieved. - When anything not corresponding to holiness - We loose power. - Thank God, power and not presence.

3. DevilThe Infernal Enemy

a) The Description of the Devil
- Tempter, Deceiver, Serpent, Dragon

b) The Devices of the Devil - He has plenty c) The Defense against the Devil
- He has great power.

3. DevilThe Infernal Enemy

-He is stronger than I. I cannot meet in my strength. He opposes me. But -I have Christ, stronger than him. Note: - Resist the Devil and he will flee from you. BUT Before that - Submit to God. If no surrender to God, then he will come again and again. If complete surrender then devil can do nothing.

The Christian and his foes:

A Biblical Example: Consider David who had THREE Victories: 1. He killed the Bear corresponds to WORLD. 2. He defeated the Lion the DEVIL. 3. He killed the Giant Goliath, the FLESH. (1Sam 17:34-37) BUT also consider THREE Defeats: 1. Acted as mad man, man of the WORLD. 2. Attracted to Bathsheba, man of the FLESH. 3. Attempted to Number, man of the DEVIL. (1Sam 21:13; 2Sam 11; 1Chro 21:1)

Self Examination:
Am I proving as man of God or
Man of the world, flesh and devil.

Any area of my life I am a defeated person? Any thought, habit, relationship needs to be confessed and corrected? Am I living a victorious Christian life? Any Confession, Consecration & Commitment? Do it NOW.
