Aborting Female Fetus

Aborting Female Fetus: An Overrated Crime against Humanity Not so long ago one day I was watching an Indian TV channel and one particular commercial got my attention. It was a female fetus telling that it was sad as it would be aborted shortly. It also said that its murderer were the people like us. I was quite shocked knowing that the Indian government has banned pre-natal ultrasound for determining the sex of a fetus. They have done it as abortion of female fetus has raised a lot in that country due to pre-natal ultrasound. I do not hold any grudge against the females, but I think this time it is really absurd that people are trying to raise awareness only to stop abortion of female fetus. They even compared it with killing a person. In my opinion, it is totally overrated that aborting female fetus is being compared to murder which is an unforgiveable crime against humanity. Knowing that they are going to have a baby could be the happiest news that any parents can ever think of. Sometimes they are so happy that they cannot wait to know the sex of the child. However, when they find out that the sex of the child is not what they had hoped for they have the right to abort the child. It does not matter whether it is a boy or a girl. I do not understand why not a single person objects when the parents decide to abort a boy, whereas people say that a crime against humanity is being committed by aborting female fetus. A child, whether it is a boy or a girl, has the equal right to be born in this world. By pointing that abortion of female fetus is a crime against humanity, we are actually discriminating between the sexes. Parents sometimes have plans when to expand the family. This plan sometime gets disrupted by accidental pregnancy. Now, taking that abortion of female fetus is a severe crime against humanity, if the child happens to be a female then they would be criminals if they chose to abort. My question is- would the parents be considered as saints if the same child happens to be a boy?

Aborting Female Fetus

Parents choose family planning because they want to ensure a promising and happy future for their children. An unplanned pregnancy could destroy that as parents would have to support a child when they are not ready for it. In this case, I believe, abortion would be a wise decision. It would be a true crime against humanity if a child has to suffer because its parents were not ready for it. Alarmingly, today the people that choose to abort are mostly the teens and the youth. They engage in unsafe sexual activities and, as a result, get pregnant. However, a very few campaigns have been launched to discourage teen sex. We all know that prevention is better than cure. The question of abortion does not arise if one does not get pregnant. That is why, I think, we should concentrate more on making people aware of unsafe sexual practice rather than telling them not to abort. To this date, in some very remote places mothers are made to abort their female children against their wills. This inhuman act is truly a crime against humanity. However, the work of a few heartless people does not define the humanity. In these times people are fully aware that men and women are equal partners in the advancement of mankind. That is why if a campaign against abortion is launched, it should be to abolish the practice of abortion itself; not just the abortion of female fetus. Humanity is made of both men and women. Both of them should get the same priority. That is why it is quite a bit overrated when people say that abortion of female fetus is a crime against humanity. A true crime against humanity would be giving birth to a girl without any love for it.
