Introduction to Work In Process

• Oracle Work In Process is a complete production

management system.
• Inquiries and reports give a complete picture of
transactions, materials, resources, costs and job/schedule
progress on the shop floor.

WIP parameters
• WIP parameters define modes of operation and default
values that affect Work in Process
• WIP parameters can be used to define modes of operation
and assign default values for various work in process functions.
• Only one set of WIP parameters can be defined per organization.

WIP Accounting Classes

• Accounting classes are assigned when jobs are defined
and when repetitive assemblies are
associated with production lines.
• Any number of WIP Accounting Classes can be defined
and updated.
• The valuation and variance accounts that are associated
with these accounting classes determine which accounts are
charged.

Create and Update Discrete Jobs
A discrete job is a production order for the manufacture of a specific (discrete)
quantity of an assembly, using a specific standard routing and operations.
Discreate Jobs are two Types
Standard discrete jobs
Standard discrete jobs control the material, resources, and operations required to
build an assembly and collect its manufacturing cost.

Non–standard discrete jobs

Non–standard discrete jobs control material and collect costs for miscellaneous
manufacturing activity. They may or may not build an assembly. This type of activity can
include rework, field service repair, upgrade, disassembly, maintenance, engineering
prototypes, and other projects.
1. Create Jobs
2. Issue Componets (Material and MOH)
3. Move transaction (Resource and OH)
4. Complete Jobs
5. Close Jobs

Create Job Set Ups

WIP >Discreate >Discreate Jobs

Issue Componets (Material and MOH)
Issue Componets are used to Issue The item for a Work. If it is Push the Item comes
automatically .If Item is Assembly Pull You need to give manually.

WIP > Material Transaction

Give The Job number
Click Continue
Move transaction (Resource and OH)

Move Transactions are used to move the item from one operation to another
operation based on the routing sequence. They are 5 types

Queue
Run
To move
Reject
Scrap

Complete Jobs

Complete job is the transaction completion in the WIP. After Completion also You
can modify the Transactions.

Return The Job
Close The Job

Close The job is to permanently Close the job in the organization. After Closing the
job you can not modify the job.
