INTRODUCTION OF INDUSTRY
A news agency is an organization of journalists established to supply news reports to news organizations: newspapers, magazines, and radio and television broadcasters. Such an agency may also be referred to as a wire service, newswire or news service.

HISTORY
The oldest news agency is Agence France-Press (AFP). It was founded in 1835 by a Parisian translator and advertising agent, Charles-Louis Havas as Agence Havas. Two of his employees, Paul Julius Reuter and Bernhard Wolff, later set up rival news agencies in London and Berlin respectively. In 1853, in Turin, Guglielmo Stefani founded the Agenzia Stefani that became the most important agency in the Kingdom of Italy, and took international relevance with Manlio Morgagni. In order to reduce overhead and develop the lucrative advertising side of the business, Havas's sons, who had succeeded him in 1852, signed agreements with Reuter and Wolff, giving each news agency an exclusive reporting zone in different parts of Europe.

COMMERCIAL SERVICES
News agencies can be corporations that sell news (e.g. Press Association, Thomson Reuters, AHN). Other agencies work cooperatively with large media companies, generating their news centrally and sharing local news stories the major news agencies may chose to pick up and redistribute (i.e. AP, Agence France-Presse (AFP) or American Press Agency (APA)). Commercial newswire services charge businesses to distribute their news (e.g. Business Wire, the Hugin Group, Marketwire, PR Newswire, CisionWire, and ABN Newswire). Governments may also control news agencies: China (Xinhua), Canada, Russia (ITAR-TASS) and other countries also have government-funded news agencies which also use information from other agencies as well. The major news agencies generally prepare hard news stories and feature articles that can be used by other news organizations with little or no modification, and then sell them to other news organizations. They provide these articles in bulk electronically through wire services (originally they used telegraphy; today they frequently use the Internet). Corporations, individuals, analysts and intelligence agencies may also subscribe. News sources collectively described as alternative media provide reporting which emphasizes a self-defined "non-corporate view" as a contrast to the points of view expressed in corporate media and government-generated news releases. Internet-based alternative news agencies form one component of these sources

RESEARCH TOPIC WORKING OF NEWS AGENCY

Under summer training my research topic was working of news agency meaning that how the work is done in news agency was my research topic. During the training I observed how the news cases are collected and how the advertising work is done in news agency. MEANING OF NEWS AGENCY A news agency is an organization of journalists established to supply news reports to news organizations: newspapers, magazines, and radio and television broadcasters. Such an agency may also be referred to as a wire service, newswire or news service. News agencies often referred to as 'wire services' have always played a critical role in gathering and dissemination of news to newspapers, periodicals, radio and television broadcasters, government agencies, and other subscribers, who by sharing costs obtain services they could not otherwise afford. News agencies continuously track all important happenings and keep media organizations engaged in the business of transmission and exchange of news with latest updates. With globalization and innovation in technology there has been a virtual revolution in the world of news and the information explosion has created a highly competitive environment leading to changes in the significance, approach and working mechanism of news agencies today. News agencies have been making use of the latest communication technologies for dissemination of news across their network, thereby making the exchange of information more competitive and accessible by overcoming the disadvantages of yesteryears. From the telegraphs and telephones to radio and satellite transmission and now internet, agencies today have breached most of the challenges in procuring news and disseminating them timely and thereby giving a value addition to the whole proposition of being first with the news As Simon Denver of Reuters rightly sums it, There are so many channels today for the audience to access news. So if a news agency has to survive in such a scenario, it will have to provide that 'value addition' or some 'extra bit' to retain the interest of its audience. " NEWS AGENCIES IN INDIA The two premier Indian news agencies, Press trust of India(PTI) and United News of India (UNI) have also gone through various stages of evolution, since 1946 from being the flag bearers of free India to being harbingers of the changing socioeconomic scenario and gradually becoming important players in globalization and commoditization of news. The initial idea of setting up of news agencies was to create a centralized pool of news which also took necessary efforts to safe guard the interest of the nation. Today, the network of such agencies has multiplied, with foreign partners and independent news organizations making a significant mark on how news events are covered. The speed with which news is transmitted is matched with variety of stories and issues finding space in the media. Possibilities are immense of redefining 'what is news' to include such subjects, like business, market trends, art and cinema making it to the front pages. In this changing set-up , news agencies have a more promising role to play since the demand for variety in news would provide an impetus to enlarge the

scope of their activities within and outside the country. In recent times there has been an increased interest in India's efforts to streamline economic activities and counter terror threats at the same time. News agencies provide an update on these issues which frame India's image, which is either advantageous or can act as detrimental to its efforts. To understand if news agencies are providing the right context and bringing in perspectives which provide for a more balanced assessment, a study was undertaken to analyse how Indian issues are placed before the readers here and abroad. The working of the news agencies is seen at two broad levels: the news exchange mechanism with the foreign new agencies and utilization of such news by the foreign as well as domestic subscribers.

NEWS AGENCY THE REAL BISHOP IN MEDIA BUSINESS A news agency, according to UNESCO is an undertaking whose principal objective, whatever its legal form, is to gather news and news material of which the sole purpose is to express or present facts, and to distribute this to a group of news enterprises, and in exceptional circumstances to private individuals, with a view to providing them with as complete and impartial a news service as possible against payment, and under conditions compatible with business laws and usage. In the mid 1990s, however, that definition of a news agency sounded rather outdated. Transnational agencies today are big corporations or more precisely profit seeking organizations making their profits largely from the sale of financial and market data provided to clients around the globe; the commercial clients far outnumber news enterprises. Besides, the kinds of facts they present are highly selective, of primary interest to the world of trade and commerce in the West, and thus, are in no way complete and impartial. The services the agencies provide are not just text, but also audio, video clippings, photography etc. Why News Agencies are so important? The news agency does not deal directly with the public. It functions through the intermediary of the other means of mass communication, namely, the press, radio and television and web portal. Essentially, it plays the role of a wholesale supplier of news. The media depend on material distributed by the news agencies mainly put of economic necessity. In order to have a wide coverage the newspaper has to maintain a very dearer network of staff reporters, correspondents, offices, bureaus, and latest telecommunication gadgets on a worldwide scale. It is a common phenomenon that many newspapers especially in the underdeveloped and developing countries cannot even afford to maintain a proper network of correspondents within their own country of operation. Only a few newspapers and big television channels having a stupendous TRP (Television Rating Points) can afford this mammoth investment and recurring expenditure. In this part, the news agencies do play the role of a messiah. For a majority of the news media, the news agencies are a major source of news supply. The subscribers to the news agencies include the daily or weekly newspapers, magazines, the radio and television, web portals, offices and institutions, particularly govt. agencies, large corporations, in the private and public sector, bank and commercial establishments etc. The news agencies account for 40-50 percent of the total content of a daily paper, and it is also almost

35-45 percent to its audio-visual counterpart. For many of the medium and small newspapers of the third world countries, those who cannot afford to have a large number of reporters at outstations, news agencies supply the huge chunk of news, sometimes even 100 percent. The news agencies contribute almost 40 percent of news into the government owned or controlled media mostly in the developing and underdeveloped nations, the rest being from its own correspondents. Unquestionably, the agencies are playing the most important part in the booming global media business. Role of News Agencies in a Democratic Set-up- The role of news agencies in a democracy (where the so called free press is omnipresent) is very crucial. There are some basic principles, which should govern the functioning of news agencies in a democratic set-up. Following ate those principles. 1. There should not be any monopoly of one single news agency. Competition is always healthy in this case. 2. The news agencies should not participate in ownership, nor have any voice in the control of agency either editorially or administratively. 3. Financial help in the form of loans etc. should be given by the government but without any strings. 4. The set-up of the news agencies should be a public corporation formed on the basis of cooperative or joint efforts of newspapers, other users, and interests. 5. In functioning, they should keep in view the overall interests of state and society. They should abide the laws of the country, as well as by the code of professional conduct. 6. There must be a system for coverage of foreign news by the agencies own correspondents at major foreign capitals. 7. They should provide adequate coverage of local and regional news and meet the requirements of the regional newspapers. 8. The agencies should provide different types of services- complete or comprehensive, brief and summary to different categories of subscribers. 9. The tariff should be devised that the subscribers are charged in equitable manner, or according to the use made of the service. 10. The news coverage should be fast, objective, comprehensive, and accurate. 11. In selection of news, the agencies should have a sense of integrity and non-biased nature. Selection should be based on the basis importance and priority attached to individual facts. All relevant facts of significance should be reported. 12. The news agencies should not have any specific editorial policy. The agencies should avoid giving views and comments while covering a story.

13. The agencies, in delivering news, should be fair to different points of view. The views of dissidents should be treated fairly and equitably in respect to length and coverage. 14. News agencies should be free from biasness. They should also be immune to pressure from any quarter- government, or big business, proprietarily. 15. Up to the last extent, news agencies should be viable.

HOW EXACTLY DOES A NEWS AGENCY DELIVER THE NEWS TO A 'PARTICULAR' NEWSPAPERThe news is usually subscribed by the newspapers but then what decides that what news should be given to what newspapers. It depends upon the relationship between the news agency and the newspapers the agency is having all the news and the newspapers choose which one they like to publish Newspapers subscribe to the News Agencies, and the News Agencies go on sending the news through teleprinter to the subscribed Newspapers, as they receive from their correspondences. This activity going on full day and full night. The Newspapers immediately collect the news from teleprinter and the Sub Editor of the Newspaper distribute the news items to the Heads of Departments such as, political news, economy, Sports, Local News, Cinema etc. etc. Then they will rewrite the news items and send to the Production Manager who arranges to set the news on the page layouts. Once they are full, then the paper gets printed, to the required number.

MY OBSERVATIONS DURING TRAINING

FIRST DAY IN TRAINING

In fist day I got chance to work with my boss actually there is case of poor man who has a problem with his neighbor. The neighbor was continuously making him worried he was annoying the poor man in different ways. So he complaint in police but the police was not taking any action against his neighbor rather police arrested the poor man many times. So then came to NLDA agency the boss of agency took his case and we went to Narega Police Station, Fulera with the poor man. My boss told the whole story to charger of police station about that poor man. Actually my boss threatened to charger of that police station that we are from NLDA and we could circulate the news if police did not take any action. Then the charger took quick action in the evening of the same day.

PRESS CONFRESS
National Lokdarpan News Agency was going to hold a press conference to launch its associated organization Rajasthan computer congress so my boss told me to prepare templates on Rajasthan computer congress. So that is prepared many prepare and other information papers related to this programmers. The press conference was held in Neel am Hotel, Jaipur. I went there and helping in arranging the banner and distributing momentous and envelops to many reporters and news channels and seeing that all the reporters and TV channels has come or not. Many TV channels and newspaper media came such as Daink Bhasker, Rajasthan Patrika, E-TV, News-24, IBN, Morning News etc. The guest of the conference was from West Bengal and congress chief and Purushottam Pareek, chief bureau Rajasthan.

SECRETARIAT
The National Lokdarpan News Agency got the contract for publishing a advertisement on Energy notation so I got the chance to go in secretariat with my boss my boss to make govt permission to publishing this advertisement in different newspaper. We went to energy department officer (an IAS) for sign on the permission papers. Again I got the chance to go secret ate for publishing government advertisement to meet Depti. Secretary of energy Mr. Mangilal Barewa for signing on the paper, that government will payment for the all the advertisement expenditure.

JAIPUR DEVELOPMENT AUTORITY (JDA)

There was a case came to agency of a person who has a land related issue so I got the chance to go JDA. I found that whatever JDA is developing the Jaipur but its building is not developed yet the whole Jaipur development authority office is so messy and wall peaked.

ADVERTISING AGENCY
National Lokdarpan News Agency get the contract to publish the govt advertisement through the permission of govt such as one day I got the chance to go Suare Advertisement Agency to get the Design pattern of RICCO industrial advertisement. My boss told me to prepare the paper for the advertisement size, width, length for publishing in different newspapers. The agency gets many advertisements contracts from people for publishing in different newspapers. So my boss sent me many times to advertisement publishing agency to giving the pattern for advertisement.

JAIPUR MAHILA BAL VIKAS VIBHAG

In an agency one case came which was scam in Anganwari Program so agency wanted to confirm the information regarding the scam so I went with my boss to Jaipur Mahila Bal Vikas Vibhag. We met the main officer of that department Mr. Goswami. The boss confirmed the news that is there any wrong with Aganwari or not, and if it is then take quick action.

JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION OF RAJASTHAN (JAR)

Journalist Association of Rajasthan is associated organization of National Lokdarpan News Agency. The agency started a training programme for journalist through the help of Jaipur association of journalist. My boss told me to prepare a advertisement format according to his instructions for training programme for journalist and sent me advertisement publishing agency to publish the advertisement in different newspaper. my boss and the boss of JAR told me to prepare a list of teachers of different newspaper media houses best journalist to teach the trainees. My boss gave me a duty of little bit management of this program. Then I handled a receptionist post in JAR office for collecting names and photos of trainees and helping them in filling the forms.

FACT AND FINDINGS

I found in my project research that in the agency if you handling the any news collection department and another employ handling another one then whether he/she is your agency employ but you cannot trust on him/her. That mean you cannot tell him or her, what you are doing in agency, on which matter you working. When Sonia Gandhi was on Banswara tour then my boss was telling to some employees that he wil covers that news and he will go there but before some another employees he was saying that he will not go there to cover that news. Then I asked to my boss why he is doing this behavior then he told me he has to do that because of other reporters couldnt make advantage of it. One day when we were on Anganwari case then a reporter from Times Of India is of good friend of my boss came to my boss then suddenly in front of him I asked to my boss I asked to my boss about that Anganwari case then he just ignore that to saying something else after that he told me that I should not supposed to ask these questions in front of another reporters whether he is friend or enemy.
