To Belong, To Grow, To Influence
Looking back to the first day when I and Nimol arrived at Christchurch, I praised God for Sam and Nimol Mom calling us to do his mission here in Christchurch. I talked to God God this is big, responding to reach out to my people here. I trust you to go along with us and do your work here " Jesus said, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Time never waits for us. Almost four months later were getting more settled and quickly adjusting to living here. Thank for your support, concern and prayers. We felt warm seeing your smiles and you were very friendly to us. It makes us feel confident to move in our journey with the Lord here. Thank God that day to day he is always raising us up with him to feel confident to talk and build relationships with other people, especially Cambodians here. Whenever we talk to Cambodians, we feel that God is with us and we are connecting with the people. We asked the Lord to send out workers into his harvest field. Praise God now we have established the Cambodian Leadership Team who are committed to follow Christ and to be growing as Jesus disciples. We always have prayer meetings and Bible study. Keep praying for them ( Sophorn, brother Sour, Pov and Boravie, Socheat& Vira) - these are husbands and wives. One other thing, we would like to share with you is the great joy we had glorifying the Lord on 6th of May at our Fellowship meeting. Thanks be to God who is always faithful to us. Even though we feel it is hard his grace strengthens us. I taught the Cambodians here about why Jesus washed disciples feet. John 13: 4-18, Jesus wanted to teach us:

To Belong, To Grow, To Influence

He is going to his father because one of his disciple will betray him. Everyone has to be cleansed by the water ( feet are our sin and water is the Word of God) He is our servant king. - He humbled himself to serve us. If we did some things wrong to each other wash each others to make reconciliation. Jesus is the servant king. He showed humility to the disciples and for the people around the world. He served us and paid our sin on the cross. After the sermon we brought them to see what is reality for Bill and Rita, serving Cambodians for more than 17 years. Why did they treat us so well like a servant? serving each other after they became one life. We normally do this for parents/ or grandparents to show great respect and gratitude for their serving, teaching,

Recently I went to a training session on Faith at home. We as leaders were challenged once again by the fact that faith being taught, shared and shown at home will have an 80% chance of being taken up by your children. This can be through Parents, Grand Parents, Aunties and Uncles. We have been told that young people are looking for Donna Reid Childrens Pastor authenticity, they struggle when they see adults going to church on a Sunday but not living this out during the rest of the week. They therefore come to the conclusion that churches can be hypocritical, saying one thing but doing another. I need to constantly remind myself to let my children know when I have prayed and what the out come has been, to tell them my God stories and to have those conversations at home after church about how can we apply what we have heard into our every day lives. Young people are looking for truth in the adults they have everyday dealings with. This is a great challenge and hopefully later in the year we will run some events on a Sunday morning where we can teach some skills to help with this.
Y@P (Youth at Papanui) Well its basically the middle of the year! What beautiful autumn weather we have had as we now head into winter. It was a real privilege for us to run a service last month and let you know whats been going on for us at Y@P. We had many of you thank us for the stories, roaring like a lion, seeing hope and that we should be doing it more often. It is only about 4 weeks till the missions trip to Fiji (July 1-15), anticipation is building as we work on final preparations for this trip. Thank you so much for your support and prayers. We believe we will come back changed and ready to be a practical light in our community. We have felt recently God has been challenging us as leaders to ask where people are at. Luke 11:9 (NIV) And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. As we have asked many have put their hands up to follow Jesus with more intent, many have said they would like to be baptised, many have said they would like to be involved in local mission. These are exciting times, but also times of great struggle in this broken world. We continue to face issues of suicidal thoughts, self harm, eating disorders, low self esteem and the list goes on. Please pray that God will give us wisdom to know what to say (or not to say), to refer when necessary, to continue to love, journey and be there for these young people in need of Jesus.

coaching, loving and care. We invited Rita to share about her cancer and that the doctor has said that she has 56 months to live. People felt sad about this. We did feet washing for Bill and Rita to show our great respect and thankfulness. We pray for her every night. Please keep her in your prayers. I didnt expect about 80 people to come on that evening fellowship. The presence of God came with us, with tears and emotion. Please pray in particular for the Cambodian Fellowship changing to regular services next month. Blessings Sam and Nimol Mom Our sympathy and prayers are with Sam and Nimol on the passing of Sams father. Sam is currently in Cambodia.

NGAGE

Because Jesus served them first .Their heart from the Lord is to serve in order to share Gods love. We explained that what Jesus did is similar to our culture, when at a wedding ceremony the groom and bride wash each others feet,

Do you need to ENGAGE? Do you need a group to belong to for fellowship, encouragement in your own spiritual growth and effective journey sharing? Please Margaret McFedries Engage Groups Pastor come and talk to me! Were in the month of mid year Christmas potluck dinners. What fun! This is a wonderful opportunity for Engage and Ministry Groups to plan events that include friends, neighbours, work colleagues. It makes a difference if we help each other to host meals where we have chosen to invite one or two people were praying for. I have a little box called Table Talk - great to use these cards to stimulate conversation which will give easy opportunities to ask opening questions like what made Christmas special for you when you were growing up? Anyone is welcome to borrow my little box for your special event! The calendar year offers a number of strategic opportunities we can use as we live our vision: To Belong, To Grow, To Influence.
