TIG Welding TIG welding is a process where basically tungsten electrode that is not consumed is used in providing electric

arc for the welding process while the arc, electrode and the welded area are surrounded by a sheath of inert gas preventing the weld from oxidization and also allowing for production of a very neat and clean weld. The main difference between TIG welding and TIG welding is that electrode used is not being consumed in the weld. In TIG welding, there is no any metal added except in cases where one is using a different ller rod. It is a very powerful tool. It is possible to make very nice welds incredibly fast and easily with little practice as compared to oxy-acetylene welding. So what are the major advantages of TIG welding? Firstly, in TIG welding more alloys and metals are welded as compared to any other methods. Metals and alloys such as stainless steel, steel, aluminum, magnesium, chromo, nickel alloys, copper, bronze, brass and even gold are welded using TIG welders. It is very helpful in welding bike frames, handles for doors, welding wagons, fenders and lawn mowers, metal garden tables and chairs set among many others. The second advantage is that, with a good weld puddle control and better arc one can make very clean welds. This is because heat is regulated by stepping on the foot pedal just like driving a car therefore allowing you to cool down or heat up the weld puddle providing you with a very accurate weld bead control. Thus TIG welding is a perfect option for cosmetic welds such as sculptures and also automotive welds. The other advantage of TIG welding is that there are no sparks or spatter produced during the welding process because only the required amount of ller metal is put in addition to the welding puddle. In addition to above advantages, there is no ux needed since the argon gas offers protection to the weld puddle preventing it from any contamination and also no slag that can block viewing of the weld puddle. Unless the metal that is being welded contains any contaminants like zinc, lead, oil, grease and paint, TIG welders will not produce any fumes or smoke. It is advisable to clean the base metal before commencing the welding process. It is also recommended to use only one welding gas that

is Argon since it can be utilized in welding almost all metals of different thicknesses. The nal advantage is that it is possible to weld in all different positions horizontal, at, vertical or even overhead. It is also excellent for both roll cages and the conned inside areas. To do TIG welding, rst ensure to connect the torch, remote control and also the work clamp into the welding machine. Then select polarity according to the metal to be welded. The tungsten is then prepared by grinding to a point which should be roughly two to two and a half times the diameter. Assemble the torch then install the tungsten by placing the tungsten inside the collet. Finally check and connect the power. It is important to ensure that the machine power rating matches the power supply. More information is provided in the manual also ensure to observe safety regulations.
