I like UOIT because it quenches my thirst for volunteering. In the previous year I was an active member of various clubs on campus like the Muslim and Pakistan Student Associations and the Engineering Society. I can refresh myself by playing cricket, tennis, squash and even ice skating at the Campus Ice Centre (which I recently learned). Last year I achieved a memorable milestone in my life as a winning candidate in the Student Association elections. In short, my first year at UOIT provided me every reason to cheer academically and socially!

Our Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) program will open the door to careers in game development and entrepreneurship, networking and IT security. As a Game Development and Entrepreneurship student you will use motion capture suits in the Gaming Lab to create 3D visuals on screen or if you are enrolled in the Networking and Information Technology Security program you will work with advanced networking and security equipment in our high-tech Hacker Research Lab and Networking Lab. Internship options are available.
GAME DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The program is designed to quickly advance your career by focusing on the knowledge and skills needed in business and management necessary to build rewarding careers within an existing business or entrepreneurial opportunity. Our Gaming Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art workstations and software for development of animations, models, sound production, game engines and gameplay code.
NETWORkING AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SECURITY

Computer networking is an integral part of any business environment. The Networking and IT Security specialization offers comprehensive knowledge and skills in planning, designing, installing, operating, managing and securing IT infrastructure. Our core curriculum includes mandatory courses in business and management in addition to technical courses, providing you with the necessary business background and technological skills to make significant contributions in todays workplace. The coursework will prepare you to manage the continuing changes and challenges of the IT profession and for two levels of the Cisco certification program, namely, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) is offered as a technical elective. As a student in the Networking and IT Security program, you may also take certain business courses to obtain a minor in Marketing.

By choosing UOITs Faculty of Education for your teacher training, you will graduate with the well-rounded skills required to excel in teaching either junior kindergarten to Grade 6, or grades 7 to 12. We offer three distinct programs Concurrent Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Education program, the one-year Consecutive Bachelor of Education Primary/Junior program and the one-year Consecutive Bachelor of Education Intermediate/Senior program. Our expert professors will help you to think deeply about how people learn in different subject areas and at different ages. Innovative programs will prepare you to consider how diversity in ability, cultural background and social and religious experience can influence the way you approach teaching. You will also learn to be thoughtful and critical about the role technology plays in teaching and how to develop strong skills in using technological aids, such as SMART Boards, to make the learning environment more dynamic for your future students. You will participate in several hands-on field experience placements during both the concurrent and consecutive Bachelor of Education programs. These include placements in local elementary and secondary schools. By graduation, Concurrent students will have more than 100 days of school experience and Consecutive will have 60 days of school experience. Offered in co-operation with UOITs Faculty of Science, our Concurrent Bachelor of Science (BSc) (Honours)/Bachelor of Education (BEd) program allows you to earn two degrees in five years, and also prepares you to teach science, math or computer studies at the intermediate/senior level (grades 7 to 12). By completing the required course work for the BEd degree, you also fulfil many of the requirements for your BSc degree.

Our intensive one-year Consecutive Bachelor of Education Intermediate/Senior program prepares you to teach grades 7 to 12. Technology use in the classroom is emphasized to make the teaching and learning experience more dynamic and effective. All of our teacher candidates use laptops equipped with specialized software that is helpful in the field and with their studies. You will develop the communication, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills essential for success in intermediate and senior classrooms.
We offer a one-year Consecutive Bachelor of Education Primary/Junior program, focused on teaching junior kindergarten to Grade 6, to students who hold an appropriate undergraduate degree from a recognized university. The emphasis is on preparing you to be an elementary school teacher with strengths in science, mathematics, technology and literacy.

MANAGEMENT OPTION*
There is a growing need for engineers with management skills. UOIT offers an innovative management option. You can choose to complement the technical studies of your engineering program with business and management courses, by selecting the five-year Bachelor of Engineering and Management program.
You will examine all forms of energy including nuclear, solar, wind, hydro and fossil fuels, as well as hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. This program will enable you to generate complete system designs from small-scale devices to largescale systems and to work effectively with other engineers.
Health Physics Nuclear Engineering* and Radiation *

The Nuclear Engineering program introduces students to all aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle, from mining to plant operation and finally waste management. The curriculum includes courses in nuclear plant chemistry, nuclear materials and heat transport, steam generation systems, nuclear physics and plant design. Not only will you be examining the current operational fleet of reactors, but you will apply your growing knowledge to the future generation of reactors (e.g., supercritical water reactors, fast reactors and fusion reactors).

This program is structured to integrate laboratory courses, field trips and research projects with core course material in order to provide the maximum experience within this exciting, challenging and essential field.

The curriculum is a combination of fundamental radiation science, technological methods and applications preparing graduates to seek rewarding careers. The use of ionizing radiation is more prolific than you might think. Energy supply, medicine, agriculture, national security, manufacturing and resource-based industries are all examples of where the uses of radioactive materials or radiation-generating machines are an essential part of their operations. Radiation is also used to study materials and matter on the atomic scale and recently radiation science has witnessed huge advances in techniques for material science using advanced radiation sources such as synchrotrons, neutron spallation sources and reactor neutron beams.

Forensic science is an emerging interdisciplinary area drawing strongly upon social science to apply scientific principles to the analysis of evidence for legal investigations. The Forensic Science program is distinguished by a strong scientific foundation in biology and chemistry. It contains sufficient biology content to proceed to graduate school in biological science and most of the chemistry requirements in that area. Your electives deepen your knowledge of either chemistry or biology, opening up additional career options. ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Alternative dispute resolution typically includes arbitration, mediation, early neutral evaluation, and conciliation and sentencing circles. It also offers a less-expensive and faster alternative to settling disputes and disagreements. In this specialization you will learn about the increasing importance placed on alternative ways of solving disputes outside the courtroom.
Public Policy
If you are interested in policy and administration this interdisciplinary undergraduate degree provides you with strong preparation for related work in the private and public sectors. The program draws on disciplinary strengths in sociology, political science, philosophy, psychology and economics to deepen your understanding and mastery of public and social policy analysis, development and administration.

The Equity Policy specialization offers an interdisciplinary approach to analyses of policies that have threatened principles of equality and justice and move towards an understanding of potential outcomes that facilitate social justice. The following are the minimum academic qualifications required for consideration for undergraduate full-time admission to UOIT. Applicants must achieve a high overall standing in their studies and obtain the appropriate program specific subject prerequisite(s). Please note: Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to UOIT. If your country is not listed below, please contact the International Admissions office at admissionsinternational@uoit.ca.
BRITISH-PATTERNED EDUCATION
Applicants from British-patterned education must achieve the General Certificate of Education (GCE), including a minimum of two Advanced Level courses. No grade can be below a C. Preference will be given to students with prerequisites at the A level. Transfer credit may be granted for Advanced Level courses with a final grade of an equivalent C or better, depending on the program (maximum 18 credit hours). Courses studied in the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) will be considered on an individual basis.
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB)

Full diploma candidates who achieve passes in six subjects with at least three at the Higher Level, and who accumulate a grade total of 24 with no score lower than 4 are eligible for admission to first year. Students must hold the appropriate prerequisite subjects at the Higher Level. English may be held at either Higher or Standard Level. Applicants offering prerequisites at Standard Level will be given individual consideration. 4. ACCEPT YOUR OFFER

UOIT sends out offers of admissions on an ongoing basis once all appropriate documentation is received. After you have received your offer letter from UOIT, you will need to accept your offer on your OUAC account by the deadline specified in the letter. In addition, you are required to submit a C$100 (subject to change) non-refundable deposit to UOIT. Information on how to pay your confirmation deposit will be in your official offer package.
6. REGISTER FOR COURSES

After accepting your offer of admission and submitting the confirmation deposit, you will receive information by email on how to register for your courses; and Registration takes place online in late June/early July at www.uoit.ca/mycampus. More information will be sent to you on course registration in early May; and Additional requirements are being introduced in 2012. Information will be provided.
5. APPLY FOR A STUDY PERMIT

If you are not a permanent resident or Canadian citizen, you will need to apply for: A) A study permit to study in Canada. You must apply for this permit outside of Canada. Apply at least six months before you intend to begin your studies. Application requirements may vary depending on your country of citizenship. The following documents are required by all study permit applicants: . Completed study permit application (IMM 1294); . Valid passport (this should be valid for at least four years. Please note: A study permit will not be issued past the date of expiry on a passport); . Six photos of you and each accompanying family member, meeting the requirements of the photo specifications listed in the study permit package; . Proof of acceptance from UOIT; . Fee payment: Please verify acceptable methods of payment with the Visa office of the Canadian diplomatic mission responsible for your country; . Proof of sufficient funds: annual tuition costs plus $10,000 annually for living expenses ($5,000 per family member); and . Any additional documents required by the responsible Canadian Visa office*. You must also consult the Canadian diplomatic mission serving your country as each office may have its additional requirements. Applicants from some countries may also be required to have a medical exam or entry visa. United States citizens can apply for their study permit when they are entering Canada for immediate processing.

Visit the UOIT International website where you will find information on airport pickup program, international student orientation (details will be emailed), health insurance and other details on student life; Register for the campuswide orientation at www.uoit.ca/orientation and the international student orientation at www.uoit.ca/welcometouoit; Plan to arrive at UOIT by Thursday, August 30, 2012 to attend the international student orientation and to settle in; and The University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) is a mandatory health insurance plan for all international students. UHIP provides basic and emergency health insurance while studying in Canada. Once you have registered for your courses, you will be charged the UHIP fee on your student account and will be automatically enrolled in the program. Our spectacular 90,000-square-foot CRWC includes five gymnasiums, an elevated indoor walking/jogging track and the Flex, a 10,000- square-foot fitness centre featuring state-of-the-art cardio and weight machines. The Simcoe Village and South Village residences offer accommodations for 1,360 students and if you are a first-year student, you are guaranteed a spot in residence when you meet the deadlines for accepting UOITs offer of admission and applying to residence. The residences offer a number of different room options: Our Simcoe Village and South Village residences offer a variety of fully furnished suites and each includes: A three-piece bath; A kitchenette; A workspace; and Plenty of space for creativity.
You can choose from two variations of a spacious open-concept model. One option includes two double beds separated by a partial wall, while the other offers two private bedrooms. FAST FACT UOIT is home to North America's second-largest geothermal well field, which uses a ground-source heat recovery system to heat and cool all university buildings.
Apartment-style residence units are designed for students in their upper years of study. Each 27-unit building can house a total of 108 students. INVESTING IN YOUR FUTURE

A university education is one of the most important investments you will ever make. At UOIT, we endeavour to help with scholarships and employment opportunities to assist with your educational costs, however, scholarships are limited. You should be financially prepared for your entire course of studies at UOIT. Be sure to research scholarship opportunities and financial aid options in your home country for study abroad.

There are many options for you to engage in challenging work opportunities to help with expenses and gain valuable skills and experience, including: Co-operative education (co-op) and internships, depending on your program; Employment on-and off-campus; and Post-graduation work permit program.
GLOBAL LEADERSHIP AWARD

International secondary school students entering an undergraduate program at UOIT on a study permit and who are currently studying outside of Canada are eligible for UOITs Global Leadership Award (GLA). This scholarship is one of UOITs most prestigious entrance awards. Valued at $45,920 ($11,480 annually), it recognizes international secondary school applicants with strong academic and leadership abilities. Applications for the GLA are due by February 24, 2012. Canadian citizens and permanent residents are not eligible for the GLA.

AWARDS OF RECOGNITION
Applicants entering UOIT from a Canadian secondary school will be automatically considered for an Award of Recognition. Awards are renewable annually (for up to four years) and based on your top six grade 12 U or M, or equivalent, final grades, and are awarded as follows: 95 per cent or higher: $12,000 ($3,000 x four years); 90 per cent to 94.9 per cent = $8,000 ($2,000 x four years); 85 per cent to 89.9 per cent = $6,000 ($1,500 x four years); and 80 per cent to 84.9 per cent = $5,000 ($1,250 x four years).
Although job opportunities are limited on campus, international students studying full-time at a Canadian university can earn extra income to help pay for their education costs by working off campus after six months of full-time study. Providing eligibility criteria are met, you may receive an off-campus work permit allowing you to work up to 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours during school breaks and holidays. After graduating from UOIT with a four-year degree, you are eligible to stay and work in Canada for three years in the general labour market (please see www.uoit.ca/immigrationinfo for more information).
