1 Low-rpm Operation

Low-rpm Cam Lobes High-rpm Cam Lobe

For good fuel economy and smooth operation, both valves follow the smaller cam lobes, providing passenger-car-type performance at low engine rpm (revolutions per minute).

2 Transition
Horsepower rises steadily across the switch-over point to provide a smooth transition between the low-rpm and high-rpm modes of engine operation.

3 High-rpm Operation
For higher engine power output, both valves follow the larger, center cam lobe, providing performance at high rpm that is similar to a racing car engine.
