Matching Gift Funds for Kathy Noll Erickson 77 An anonymous donor has offered up to $500 in matching gifts funds in honor of MN Alpha Pi Phi Kathy Noll Erickson. The goal is to raise a total of $1000 so that Kathy might be remembered with a personalized brick in the Arrow Path. Pledges for contributions made from now and until the end of summer (payable in 2012) in memory of Kathy will be matched on a one-for-one basis. All gifts may be made on a tax deductible basis, payable to the Pi Beta Phi Foundation. Kathy passed away in 2010 and is remembered for her infectious spirit, her great social organizing skills and loyalty as a friend. Her time as an active member of the Chapter provided a well-spring of joy in her life. A campaign gift/ pledge form can be downloaded from the Campaign website www.mnannex.org. For additional information and/or questions, contact Pam Burkley at 651-2609326 or email peterburk@lach.net By Pam Burkley The Renewing Our Common Bonds fundraising campaign has made great strides in its quest to secure funding for the complete renovation of the Chapter Annex. Along the way, MN Alpha Pi Phis have organized together to honor and to remember much loved sisters through the dedication of their gifts to the Campaign. Collected together, their stories weave the fabric of this Campaign and personify our common bonds friendship, loyalty, trust and learning. Here is a brief summary of those sisters honored with gifts to the Campaign. Irene Turner Christy 81 (1962-2010) Over 30 Pi Phi sisters from the 80s have joined together to dedicate their gifts to their cherished Pi Phi sister Irene Turner Christy who LOVED Pi Phi. A magnetic and faith filled spirit, Irene touched the lives of all who knew her with her enthusiasm and kindness.

2012 Giving Opportunities The Decade Challenge Continues!

The Renewing Our Common Bonds Campaign has been successful in a number of ways, not the least of which is reuniting sisters, focusing our collective attention on the our Chapter and raising over $100,000 for the renovation of the Chapter Annex. We do however, remain short of our goal and we therefore are able to offer alumnae a 2012 gift giving opportunity. Gifts in 2012, payable to the Pi Beta Phi Foundation for Minnesota Alphas Annex renovation, remain tax deductible. New and or additional gifts from individuals who have already contributed will be recognized in combination with earlier gifts. For example, a donor who contributed $150 in 2011 and contributes an additional $100 in $2012 will be recognized as a $250 Sustaining Angel donor. Angels Circle Distinguished Angels Guardian Angels Special Angels Sponsoring Angels Sustaining Angels Angels Halos Gift Range $5,000 and above $2,500 - $4,999 $1,000 - $2,499 $500 - $999 $250 - $499 $100 - $249 up to $99

The Decade Challenge continues as well! The alumnae Decade (i.e. 70s, 80s, 90s etc) that contributes collectively the greatest sum of gifts and the one that has the highest percentage of donors earn the privilege of naming one of the bedrooms in the Chapter House or Annex. As of March 31, 2012 the 70s are leading the way in terms of the greatest sum of gifts. The 70s and 80s alumnae however are locked in a very close competition on participation and it much too close to call at this point. Will it be the 70s? will it be the 80s? or will it be another decade? Visit www.mnannex.org and watch the competition unfold!

University Steps Up to Expand Greek Community Relations

The Universitys new President, Eric Kahler, announced a task force in April to enhance U of M and Greek relations at the University. The group is charged with identifying areas of cooperation and plans for improvement at the U related to fraternity and sorority life including students, alumni relations and housing. Pi Phi Alum, Roxann Goertz, is representing sororities on the Alumni work team. Identifying U of M alumnae with Greek affiliation, communicating effectively and an allGreek Reunion in 2014 are in the planning discussions. We will keep you up to date and included as plans are fully developed.

Founders Day and Your Invite

Unfortunately, Chapter House Corporation had limited involvement in the 2012 Founders Day planning and know that many of you missed being included. We learned too late that a more limited database was used for 2012 Founders Day Evite and we do apologize for the issue this year. Meanwhile Founders Day 2013 is already in the planning and will be held on Sunday, April 21st. We promise to assure that all alumnae we have on our MN e-mail list are invited to join in the festivities, including the CHC hosted Mimosa Toast Preevent! Please mark that date on your calendars.

A Busy Spring Semester for the Active ChapterThe Pi Phi Active Chapter, now with over 100 members, focused on fun and philanthropy this past spring semester. In March, the Pi Phis hosted Arrowspike, a volleyball tournament held at the rec center involving 34 teams, included many from Greek houses, to raise money for Pi Phi National philanthropy First Book. In April, Pi Phis fielded their own team in Relay for Life and had one of the top money raising teams at over $2500 for the American Cancer Society. For Spring Jam weekend, a University-wide event tagged Rockin through the Decades, Pi Phi and SA combined with a fun Jock Jams theme complete with old fashoned jerseys and fanny packs. Spring semester brings some romance too, with February Pi Phi Date Party, a Beaux and Arrows themed party for Valentines Day and a beautiful Spring Formal at the St. Paul Union Depot. We also congratulate three Pi Phi actives for winning the Frances H. Hofacre MN Alpha Scholarship this year: Angie Beauchamp, Sarah Campbell and Emma Conteras.
