KULAMBA TRADITIONAL CEREMONY 2012: MKAIKA HEADQUARTERS, KATETE DISTRICT, EASTERN ZAMBIA. The Kulamba is an annual age old event for the Chewa People of Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia. It takes place at Mkaika Headquarters, Katete District, Eastern Zambia. A range of cultural events are carried out throughout the week beginning from Monday to the climax on Saturday when Kalonga Gawa Undi, King of the Chewa People, emerges from seclusion to a tumultuous welcome by thousands upon thousands of Chewa People, tourists and journalists from across the globe who gather at the function. This year the function will take place on Saturday 25th August, 2012. Small Steps Adventure Tours will organize trips to the event as follows: 1. 2. South Luangwa and Kulamba Ceremony. Depart Lilongwe: Thursday, 23rd August, 2012 Return Lilongwe: 25th August, 2012 Day 1: Thursday 23rd August Depart Lilongwe at 10am for South Luangwa. Arrive in South Luangwa for night on full board. Day 2: South Luangwa 1 game drive in the morning 1 game drive in the afternoon. Depart for Chipata for a night on full board.
