Distinguished guests.
My dear friends.

Good morning,
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahhi wabarakatuh,

First of all, I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude to the organizing committee who
has given me this chance to deliver a speech on this very special occasion. I’d like to talk
about the essence of struggle as a learner.
To start with, allow me to tell you a story about students.
If we look in the students’ opportunities logically, it’s not the students’ fault if they
fail in their education, for they do not have enough time to study. Do you realize that a
year equals to 365 days? The 365 days are also the academic year for students to finish
their study in a year. Let us count together how they spent the time.
There are 52 weeks in a year and you know that Sunday is a free day so the students
do not study at all. It means that they only have 313 days left. We also have special
vacation for the holidays for at least 13 days in a year. Therefore, they have 300 days left
for studying.
After they have the final test every semester they will have some free days, surely
they will not spend their times to study. They spend their times around this school
vacation for at least two months, say 60 days are gone, again and they only have 240 days
left.
Sleeping is done regularly 8 hours a day to stay healthy, they lost 120 days.
Of the 120 days left, they spend them for praying, serving God, one to two hours a
day. Let say they spend 25 days totally, it means that they only have 95 days for studying.
Of the 95 days they have they spend them for staying fresh by doing their hobbies,
say an hour a day and they will spend 15 days, again. They have 80 days left.
Eating, which is the staple need for human being, should be done for 2 hours a day.
They spend again 30 days, and so they only have 50 days for studying.
As a social being they need to interact with other people. Say they spend 1 hour a day
for communicating with fellow students, they will lose 15 days again and they will have
35 days left.
They might be ill in the year for at least 5 days and they will only have 30 days left
for studying. The evaluation, be it mid term or final test, will be done for at least 24 days.
They will have 6 days left, and of the 6 days they spend 5 days for a stroll. So they only
have 1 day left. One last day is the birthday; do you want them to study on their birth
day?
Let me be straight, from the very strange story I’d like to say that the graduation is
not the end of the journey of education. It is the beginning of the real challenge for
graduates of this institution are expected to play a prominent role in the society according
to their task and duty. I’d like therefore to say that we must keep in mind that our success
in finishing our study at this university should not be the end of our effort to enlarge our
knowledge and sharpen our view. Otherwise, the long term output of the education
process will turn into failure for Beshere has said it best,” there are two kinds of people
who fail—those who listen to no body and those who listen to everybody”
Thank you very much for your attention
