On Wednesday 30th May, the children had a visit from the children's author, Eamonn Reilly. He captured the children's imagination in a fantastic assembly, detailing parts of his books and giving the children and teachers tips for their future writing. The children then had the opportunity to purchase his books, and meet him in person during a book signing in the new Library. Mr Reilly said, "I have never met such enthusiastic children, who are so willing to read and write and find out how to improve their work. Brampton have sold the most books during my tour and are by far the most polite children! I look forward to reading their books in the future, you definitely have some budding authors!" Miss Hope totalled up the amount of books sold, and the total came to over 1000, which means that we benefit from over 30 free books for our library. Many thanks to Miss Hope for organising such a popular event!

Our School Secretary, Office Manager and P.A. to Miss Fisher, Mrs Deere joined our staff in May 2000 from Bexleyheath School. She will be probably be the first face you meet on visiting Brampton. Besides answering the phone and everyones queries, her main responsibilities include running the schools finances, from ordering to payments. This means she attends and reports to the Governors Finance Committee. She deals with all the administration to do with staffing issues, from arranging the correct paperwork for interviews, employment, overtime, sickness and staff leaving. Many parents will be familiar with the forms and paperwork she deals with such has helping those of you who have requested a CRB check to help in school. Children know Mrs Deere as someone who is responsible for our First Aid. She ensures everyone who needs a First Aid qualification holds a current certificate. Many of our staff dont know how we would manage without her and she is able to answer all our queries or knows someone else who can and most importantly she can mend the photocopier!! She always joins in with school events from dressing up for Pyjama Day to being a Queen Bee! One parents once wrote the Ladies in the office rock! A parent in reception recently replied in their questionnaire regarding the welcome from the office that they always give a good first impression and first impressions stick so definitely a positive. For most of last year she and Ms Saill had to put up with very difficult working conditions in a portable storage container, with everyone having to walk through their office, but they are now happily established in their new enlarged office area.
