The Spirit of hwhy: Our Source of Understanding

I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. Tehillim/Psalms 119:99

a On the Shabbat of 7/24/2010, a meditation was given which exalts the Mashiach
and the understanding which He had through the fullness of the Spirit of hwhy which dwelt in Him without measure.1 Our opening Scripture from Tehillim 119:99 was prophetic of the great light and understanding which would be revealed to the world through the Life and Example of the Mashiach (the Messiah). A more literal rendering from the Hebrew language for this text would read as follows: More than all my teachers I have understanding for Your testimonies are a meditation to me. Psalm 119:99 In Hebrew, the phrase above all my teachers, or more than all my teachers looks like this:

ydmlm
me-lam-dai my teachers

lkm
mi-cal above all/more than all

The misparim value for this phrase is obtained by adding the number values of each letter:

= ydmlm

lkm

214 = (10) y + (4) d + (40) m+ (30) l + (40) m + (30) l + (20) k + (40) m Perhaps the number 214 may not seem significant until one realizes it is the very same value as that which may be obtained for the word Ruach, the Hebrew word for Spirit:

214 = (8) x + (6) w + (200) r = Ruach = Spirit

John 3:31-34, Colossians 2:9

And rightly so, since it is only by the Spirit of hwhy that we may obtain authentic understanding of His Word and find the wisdom and knowledge which shine forth with His light and His perfection. Speaking in the presence of Iyob (Job) and his three friends, Elihu also indicated it was through the Spirit of the Most High that man gains the true knowledge of Elohim: 6 And Elihu, the son of Barachel the Buzite, answered and said, I am young, and you are very old; therefore I held back, and did not show you my opinion. 7 I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom. 8 But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of Shaddai gives them understanding. 9 It is not the great that are wise, nor the aged that understand justice. Job 32:6-9 Giving the Mashiach the Preeminence in All Things We believe the Scripture in Tehillim 119:99 was ultimately fulfilled in the life of eSwhy the Mashiach, the One who had understanding which was far beyond that of His teachers. Not only was Elihu a prophetic type of eSwhy,2 but we see that, even at a very young age, the Spirit of hwhy had given the Messiah an understanding which greatly amazed those who were teachers over all Yisrael: 46 And it came to pass, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers. Luke 2:46-47 And there were many other times when the words of eSwhy, pulsating with light and wisdom, amazed and edified those who were blessed to hear. One of these times was at the Feast of Sukkot/Booths: 14 But when it was now the midst of the Feast eSwhy went up into the temple, and taught. 15 The Yahudim therefore marveled, saying, How does this man know letters, having never learned? 16 eSwhy therefore answered them and said, My teaching is not Mine, but His that sent Me. John 7:14-16
2 In his book, The Alef-Beit, Yitzchak Ginsburg has pointed out the phrase Elihu son of Barachel (lakrb-Nb awhyla) adds to 358, as does Mashiach, the Hebrew word for Messiah:

53 = 52 = 253 = -----------------------Total = 358

(1) a + (6) w + (5) h + (10) y + (30) l + (1) a = awhyla = Elihu (50) N + (2) b = Nb = beyn = son (30) l + (1) a + (20) k + (200) r + (2) b = lakrb = Barachel 358 = (8) x + (10) y + (300) S + (40) m = xySm = Mashiach = Messiah

Because the Messiah brought forth the words of the Torah with the light and splendor of hwhy,3 His teachings amazed the listeners, especially since eSwhy had not attended the customary schooling for those who would instruct Yisrael from the Law. Even so, He had more understanding than all of His teachers. Through the Ruach/Spirit (= 214), the Messiah not only shined the light and splendor of hwhy on the Word of Elohim during His time on earth, but He continues to do so today.4 Which Thing is True in Him As we walk with Elohim and follow the Messiah, and as the Savior dwells in our hearts by faith,5 we are rooted and grounded in love.6 And commensurate with that love which He works within us, the Spirit of the Most High will do in our lives what hwhy did in His Son. As we abide in Him we, too, will be given wisdom and understanding from the Torah and we will be vessels of honor used of the Sovereign to bring forth things new and old,7 spiritual treasures from the heavenly storehouses of wisdom and knowledge:8 30 But of Him are you in the Messiah eSwhy, who was made unto us wisdom from Elohim, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption: 31 that, according as it is written, He that exults, let him exult in hwhy.9 1Corinthians 1:30-31 Only in hwhy do we live and move and have our being;10 only in Him do we reach our fullest potential in this lifetime. And it is only by abiding in the Messiah that we may obtain the truth and reality of those things which are seen on the written pages of Scripture: 20 For however many are the promises of Elohim, in Him11 is the Yes. Therefore, through Him also is the Amein, unto the splendor of Elohim through us. 21 Now He that establishes us with you in the Messiah, and anointed us, is hwhy; 22 who also sealed us, and gave us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 2Corinthians 1:20-22

John 1:1-5,14, 2Corinthians 3:12-16 Hebrews 13:8 5 Ephesians 3:17 6 (in contrast with so many today who have ministries of judgment and condemnation) 7 Matthew 13:52 8 Colossians 2:1-3 9 Jeremiah 9:23-24 10 Acts 17:28 11 (i.e., in the Messiah)

If we abide in Him through prayer (continually drawing near) and meditation (on the Torah12), the truth of Scripture will be true in Him and in us: Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in Him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines. 1John 2:8 Whatever was/is true in the Messiah can also be true in us, including a measure of His understanding of the Torahunderstanding which He is ever pleased to impart to the lowly.13 But this impartation will only occur in the Spirit to the degree that we humble ourselves before Him,14 ever decreasing so that He may always increase and so that hwhy may be exalted above all.15 Your Urim and Thummim are With Your Chadsid The woman at the well voiced what must have been one well-known aspect of the Messiahs coming, the fulfillment of which many in her day evidently awaited with great anticipation: The woman said to Him, I know that the Messiah is coming, who is called Anointed; when He comes, He will declare to us all things. John 4:25 In the same vein, Mosheh (Moses) prophesied the Urim and Thummim of hwhy would be with His Chadsidthe Man of Your Lovingkindnesswho is none other than the Messiah: And of Levi he said, Your Thummim and Your Urim are with the man of Your lovingkindness (chasid), whom You did tempt at Massah, and with whom you strove at the waters of Meribah. Deuteronomy 33:8 Urim and Thummim means Lights and Perfections, and it is the Messiah who imparts these lights and perfections in the form of gifts of the Spirit. Through the Spirit, the Messiah continually imparts the Lights and Perfections of hwhy.16 And Shaul, the emissary, said it like this:
12 13

Psalm 1:1-3, Matthew 5:17-20, Romans 12:1-2 Isaiah 57:15, 66:1-2 14 (via fasting and prayer) 15 John 3:30 16 John 16:13-14, James 1:17

7 But unto each one of us was the favor given according to the measure of the gift of the Messiah. 8 Therefore, He says, When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Ephesians 4:7-8 Shaul continues his discourse, indicating that these gifts are intended to edify the chasidim of the assembly, and in another location he wrote they reveal the Son within us.17 Conclusion Your Messiah, eSwhy, never came to relax the perpetual edicts of the Torah; His only objection was with the vain traditions of those who were supposed to be teaching/upholding the Law and who were failing miserably by nullifying the commandments of the Torah.18 In the days of the Messiah, many teachers over Yisrael were advocating traditions which added to and/or took away from the Torah. Yet adding to or diminishing the Torah was something which hwhy had strictly forbidden.19 Thus, the Mashiach magnified the Torah, showing us its greatness and holding it forth with immense honor. Through His Teachings, we see the great light and splendor of hwhy El Elyon.20 Our Mashiach came to restore the ancient paths,21 the paths of the Torah. His Life and Ministry showed us the way in which to walk and only served to uphold the immutable, age-enduring Torah and to make it honorable.22 eSwhy was the Repairer of the Breach and the Restorer of the Paths in which to dwell.23 His Fathers Torah has been commanded across a prophesied 1000 generations.24 This is an immense time span that will range across the next 40,000 to 100,000 years! That is why the Feasts of hwhy will all be kept in the Millennium as well as many millennia beyond!25 So the general arguments we hear today about the Feasts and the Torah being abolished simply do not hold up under any amount of humble, prayerful study. And when kept in context, the words of eSwhy clearly show us the word fulfill means to keep and to teach:

17 18

Galatians 1:15-16 Matthew 15:1-9, Mark 7:6-13 19 Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32, Proverbs 30:6 20 Psalm 119:105, Proverbs 6:23 > Matthew 4:12-17 > John 1:5, Isaiah 42:21, 2Corinthians 3:15-16, 1Timothy 1:10 21 Jeremiah 6:16 22 Isaiah 42:21 23 Isaiah 58:12, John 4:25, Colossians 2:3, 1Timothy 1:10 24 Deuteronomy 7:9, Psalm 105:8 25 Isaiah 66:22-23, Nahum 1:15, Zechariah 14:9,16-19

17 Think not that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfill. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the Torah, till all things be accomplished. 19 Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. 20 For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no way enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 5:17-20 When read in context, the Savior is showing us that fulfill means to keep and to teach. Many today would tell us the Law has been abolished, and such persons endanger their reward by breaking far more than the least commandment while also teaching others to do likewise. Yet Scripture shows us the Torah is the Constitution of the Kingdoma Kingdom which will span across 1000 generations and bring about a most blessed and unbroken increase of His Government and of shalom26and only those who keep and teach its precepts will attain to reward and greatness in this coming time. Because the Spirit of hwhy rested upon the Messiah without measure,27 His understanding of the Torah was far beyond that of His teachers. May our readers abide in Him so that He may increasingly impart more of His Ruach/Spirit and manifest the light, splendor, and wisdom of the Father in advance of the New Millennium and the Kingdom of hwhy which will soon be established mightily throughout all the earth.
