Inspiring arts and unique architecture is everywhere in Melbourne

Speech/Day/Whatever Monday
Street Art Hosier Lane & Paynes Place and Croft Alley
Art is expected to be presented in art galleries and frames, but when visiting some street art, it expresses that there is no need for art to be in a specific area. By visiting art in lanes and alleyways, we discovered that there are different types and styles of art and that it represents different morals and values that people respect. When visiting these locations, Although the surveys proved a variety of responses, the dominant response has proved that inspiring art and unique architecture is everywhere in Melbourne.

Tuesday
Swanston St Tour
On Tuesday we explored around Swanston Street and The Melbourne Museum to seek for the arts and architecture in the city. When we had toured around Swanston Street we had observed and surveyed people about the architectural buildings. Some say that the buildings looked historical and largely built. Others say that it did not attract them because currently there were constructions going on that they did not pay attention to them. Throughout every corner in which we headed by displayed different unique architecture, each one had history and meaning behind the designs and developed from a modern and classic look.

Melbourne Museum
On our way to Melbourne Museum we stopped at The Royal Melbourne Exhibition Building where it had displayed a majestic architectural site. The building was palace like that also had a water fountain in front. We were mesmerized by the beautiful scenery that it felt very royal and elegant especially on a sunny day. Only a few paces and we had arrived at The Melbourne Museum where we had discovered some arts. Although it wasnt quite what we had expected we were still able to see inspiring arts such as the one displayed along the walls. It was different from other arts as it was more cultural.

Wednesday
St. Pauls Cathedral
During the 30 of May, we headed off to St Pauls Cathedral and the Ian Potter Theatre to view the Top Arts of 2012. Our main focus to visit the Cathedral was to contemplate about unique architecture. Little did we know that inside the Cathedral illustrated inspiring art that gave us a slight idea of how the Cathedral was built. Firstly when we arrived at the Cathedral, the architecture on the outside of the building had a historical European style. The Cathedral was based on Christian beliefs. When we entered the building, it was quite dark but very welcoming. There were unique features that were identified clearly. The stain glassed windows depicted different meanings. One of the main windows was The Lantern at St Pauls Cathedral. The eight pointed star symbolized divine guidance. Everything was very unique because of how the stain glassed windows had an individual meaning and how the building had art in different places, like the detail in the furniture.

Art gallery Top Arts 2012

After exploring the Cathedral, we were on our way to the Ian Potter Theatre. The exhibition we explored was the Top Arts of 2012. The variety of artworks displayed was very attractive and captured our attention. They expressed different meanings and emotions through the theme and technique of the art piece on behalf of the artist. We surveyed other viewers in the exhibition about their opinion on an art piece they liked most. The responses differentiated because it was based on different types of artworks that appealed to different audiences. The exhibition inspires people to engage in more art recreation activities and many people come together to form a different type of art. The artworks were created by VCE arts and studio arts students. This encourages others to take up the course and it inspires younger students in taking art seriously. It also could inspire other students studying art by giving them ideas for their own work.

Thursday
Eureka Skydeck & Melbourne Aquarium
On Thursday, the fourth day of the Directions 9 City experience, the Blackjacks travelled from Sunshine station to Southern Cross Station. The station was sheltered by a huge roof, over the trains. Other structural forces included prevailing winds and the ventilation of diesel fumes. After half an hour of waiting for the other groups and teachers, we travelled to our first destination. We took the train to Flinders Street Station and then walked the rest of the way to Eureka Sky deck. The group was transported from the first floor up to the eighty-eighth floor by an elevator. The view from the eighty-eighth floor was extraordinary hence why

the group captured many photos. We all entered a small glassed room, known to be named the edge. The room elevated 3 metres out of the main Eureka building and allowed us to see the view of the city from a different perspective. The Eureka Sky deck building itself is a very unique piece of architecture as it is about 297 metres tall. The building has about 89 floors and also the edge which is a room that allows citizens to view the city in another perspective. We were transported back to federation square by the train, and then we headed to Swanston Street for lunch. We finally decided on purchasing food from fast food restaurants. We met up with the group crazy taxi for the subsequent activity. We all took a tram to the Melbourne Aquarium, where Ms Kavadias joined us. In the Aquarium we explored a various range of Aquatic animals e.g. Penguins, sharks and sting rays. We also walked around other parts of the Aquarium including the souvenir shop. The amazing architecture in this building included numerous fish tanks to allow the animals to live in and also the dome which was another type of fish tank. We travelled back to Federation Square by tram alongside Crazy Taxi. We departed the city from Flinders Street Station once all the groups arrived back to the planned meeting destination. As soon as the train arrived at Sunshine Station, everyone was dismissed.

Overall - Hypotheses
Overall, we have proved our hypotheses in many ways. As we explored the city, there was nothing but art and architecture that were both unique and inspiring. There were much depth and meaning behind the designs of how the amazing buildings throughout Melbourne city were created. Weather the style of the architecture was modern or a more historical and classic look. The city is surrounded by art. Its in and on every street and every corner. The art that we decided to explore showed how expressive Melbourne is and how it inspires many people. We discovered how different types of art pieces appealed to different audiences which explains that everyone is inspired by the creativity in Melbourne. Seeing the city in a different perspective in the Eureka Tower finally proves that our city is
