Gulleson Issues Statement on Health Care Ruling

RUTLAND, ND U.S. House Candidate Pam Gulleson issued the following statement on the Supreme Courts ruling on the Affordable Care Act:

I think its clear that there is much that still needs to be changed in the health care law. We need to work to improve the health care law to protect small businesses from undue burden and start getting serious about finding ways to reduce the overall costs of health care.

However, as Ive traveled the state, Ive heard over and over how our current health care system means one medical emergency can ruin a life of building financial security. Today's ruling is important for the thousands of North Dakotan's who have faced these challenges. Thats why Im committed to work to improve our health care system.

"I believe we need to work to protect some the ACAs key provisions, including ending the Medicare Doughnut Hole, which provides important coverage on prescription drugs for our seniors. I support keeping young adults insured under their parents plans until the age of 26, improving preventive care, and ending the practice of dropping coverage because of a pre-existing condition.

'I also vow to fight for the Frontier Amendment, which makes Medicare payments fair for states like North Dakota and allows our hospitals to cover their costs and focus on caring for their patients. ###
