Deloitte has provided long-term business intelligence capabilities to a Federal Government agency client. From modernizing the reporting infrastructure to developing, maintaining, and operating its award winning data warehouse, Deloitte has played a key role in empowering the agencys user community with critical insight. Today, this agency looks to Deloitte to infuse its analytics and thought leadership into its data warehouse through an enterprise analytics platform.

Solution Analytics platform and BI competency center

To extend the value of their data warehouse a broadbased reporting tool designed to provide users with easy access to valuable analysis and decision support information Deloitte is providing advanced analytics capabilities. Deloittes solutions and approach are aimed at integrating key operational information into one seamless reporting management environment. Solution components include analytics and reporting, online analytical processing, and dashboards. The solution also incorporates quality control checks and balances at each step to help confirm a positive user experience. The team employs the Deloitte Enterprise Information Management (EIM) methodology designed to provide the agency with an analytics framework that encompasses a leading suite of software and hardware products from industry-leading vendors. The approach is business-driven and encompasses various aspects of software engineering and management, including strategy and visioning, requirements management, project management, change management, communications, risk management, support and maintenance, user training, and special events. Deloittes EIM solution is designed to offer a unified enterprise analytics platform that can support the agencys reporting needs into the future with capabilities, such as metadata management, master data management, data quality management, key performance indicators, and dashboards.

This Federal agency is one of the worlds largest medical research centers and at the forefront of medical and behavioral research for the United States. This agency has teamed with Deloitte for more than 15 years to meet its complex (BI) needs. Over the last decade, Deloitte helped this agency in its efforts to modernize its reporting infrastructure through an enterprise-wide reporting, dashboarding, and ad hoc analysis solution. The agency also tapped the Deloitte Federal Information Management team to develop, maintain, and operate their award-winning data warehouse. In the face of increased competition and pricing pressure from established rivals and small business vendors, the agency looked again to Deloitte to help its efforts to further enhance its performance management and decision support capabilities through Deloittes analytics platform and thought leadership.

Results Deeper analytics bring a healthy return

Already reaping the benefits of the data warehouse, the agencys team earned a Level 3 rating on the Software Engineering Institutes Capability Maturity Model. The agency is eying a healthy return from advanced analytics as well. To date, Deloitte has managed more than 6,000 registered data warehouse users who access various analytics applications. Already the agency has realized deeper analytics on more than 16 business areas, including federal accounting, human resources, asset management, federal travel, technology transfer, property management, and procurement. With special attention to the accounting business area, Deloitte provides mission-critical analytics capabilities to the Office of Financial Management to help in its efforts toward fiscal year-end general ledger closeout.
