Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students are able to

1. Comprehend the importance of critical thinking in their public and private lives and locate barriers, which would prevent efficient analysis of problems and productive generation of solutions. 2. Understand the role of personal history and egocentricity on thinking, interpretation of experience, and argument formation. 3. Detect the use of manipulative strategies in media form and content. 4. Identify and cast a sound argument containing true premises. 5. Identify fallacies that can undermine an argument. 6. Assess the dangers of conformity without prior evaluation. 7. Generate and apply problem-solving strategies using interdisciplinary approaches. 13. Transferable Skills: Communication, critical thinking, problem solving, team work, professional ethics, managerial and leadership skills 14. Teaching-learning and assessment strategy: Mixed method between teacher-centred and student-centred. Continuous assessment. 15. Synopsis: This course introduces the use of critical thinking skills. Emphasis is placed on information, problem solving, approaching cross-cultural perspectives, and the importance of conscious self assessment. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate orally and in writing the use of critical thinking skills in the analysis of appropriate texts. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement pre-major and/or elective course requirement. 16. Mode of Delivery: Lectures and discussions.-including

textbook reading, class discussions, informal lectures, individual and group exercises, dialogues and papers.
