PROFILE
Following nursing process in assessing, planning, implementation and evaluating daily individual patient care.
Identifies immediate needs of the patients through proper assessment upon admission.
Obtains and documents objective and subjective cues such as vital signs taking, performing simple physical examinations, interaction
with patients and significant others.
Collaborates with other health team members in the patient’s care, e.g. referral to doctors, medical technologists, pulmonary
technicians, and radiology technicians.
Administers medications by observing the seven rights ( right patient, right drug, right dose, right route, right time, right
documentation and right approach ), and carries out treatment and procedures promptly and accurately such as I.V. insertion,
nebulization, catheterization, NGT insertion. Administering drugs - Oral, sublingual, intravenous, intradermal, subcutaneous,
intramuscular, intra tracheal, intracardiac. Administering drugs and fluids via infusion pumps.
-Set the ventilator parameters according to the patient’s respiratory status and constant monitoring of the patient.
• Monitoring fluid-electrolyte balance - Intravenous canalization, administering intravenous fluids, monitoring and maintaining
adequate record of intake and output sending blood samples for investigation and evaluating the lab-values.
• Monitoring blood glucose values - Bedside blood glucose are monitored with use of glucometer.
• Hourly maintaining a bypass chart of chest tube drainage, Ion trope flow rate and concentration, urine output, IV fluids, heart rate,
respiratory rate, right atrial pressure, left atrial pressure, arterial blood pressure, central venous pressure, peripheral temperature, oral
and rectal temperature.
• Monitoring Glasgow coma scale - The level of consciousness is assessed by using Glasgow coma scale. Pupillary response to light
also monitored changes are daily recorded and reported.
• Meeting nutritional and elimination needs:
• Preparing the patient for various investigations. Such as MRI, Angiography, CT Scan, Doppler studies.
• Sample collection for various investigations like: Hemogram, liver function test, renal function test, blood and urine, cultural and
sensitivity, routine microscopy, urea creatinine levels, serum albumin, cardiac enzyme level, etc.
