He is founder of HCL & father of Indian IT industry He is the chairman & chief strategy officer of HCL technologies As of 2011, his personal wealth is $5.6 billion

HISTORY

He is born in moolaipozhi village, the thoothukudi district about 10 km from tiruchendram town in Tamilnadu

He born in nadar community to sivsubramaniya nadar & vamsundari devi in 1946


He received pre university degree in the American college, Madurai

He received degree in electrical and Electronic engineering from PGS college of technology in Coimbatore He nicknamed by his friends as magus He began his career at walchands group cooper engineering in pune in 1967 In 1968 he moved to Delhi where he worked as engineer with DCM company

At those days his dream was to start his own company for manufacturing of computers in India To raise fund initially, he floated a company called microcomputers limited to sell scientific computers HCL was founded later in 1976 with an investment of 1,87,000 with its 5 cofounder They also get fund from utter Pradesh government as a 26% equity partner

Sol HCL become able to launch India's first desktop pc in 1976 after three years of IBM launched it At those days HCL struggling to become at top but IBM gives a good competition Afterwards luck by chance it received an unexpected boon when IBM left India due to the policies adopted by industrial minister

He also follows transformational style of leadership however he has his unique leadership style which include all above approaches up to certain extent

He firmly believes that , if you want to empower people, give him tools He is quick to grasp new opportunities, select a team to transform his ideas in reality & delegate the project to competent professionals He uses five fold path of individual enlightenment to develop various skills in employees
