Definition:

A deliberate process of generating and sustaining the active and coordinated participation of all sectors accelerate action to improve situations of vulnerable groups (ex. Women, children, the poor, people in GIDA, Indigenous Peoples) Elements: Advocacy, networking, coordinated action, sustainable development and response to an identified problem, community & people empowerment.

Socio-economic-political environment - level of poverty of the area and political will or maturity of leaders to go beyond political color in providing health resources & services Local culture traditions and customs that influence and inhibit acceptance of correct health practices Access to services availability & quality of health services in the locality including local context and acceptance of volunteer health workers Technologies and Resources lack of medical and skilled health professionals and the facilities or equipment to allow them to address health needs Home/Community Environment patients and the communities level of education and knowledge, ex. Literacy rates
