NTPC DADRI STATION

NTPC Dadri is model project of NTPC. Best project of NTPC also known as NCPS (National Capital Power Station). installed capacity of 2639 MW of power. Capital cost of power production is 8cr.-12cr./mw.

GAS POWER PLANT

The Gas plant has 6 units. Combined capacity of 829.78 MW.

Fuel supply by GAIL India.

Capital cost of gas power plant 4.5cr-7cr/mw.

THERMAL POWER PLANT

Two units of thermal plant. Combined Capacity of 1810 MW.

Uses coal as fuel.

Capital cost of thermal power plant is 4.5cr/mw. 3.5cr-

THERMAL PLANT

Convert the heat energy of coal into electrical energy.

THERMAL PLANT

Coal of big size powdered. Coal is burnt in a boiler.

Converts water into steam.

Expansion of steam in turbine produces mechanical power. conversion of heat energy into electric energy.

THERMAL PLANT

To achieve efficient conversion of heat energy into electric energy, a variety of auxiliary equipments are needed.

The auxiliary equipments in a thermal plant are so much that they overshadow the main equipments.

COAL HANDLING PLANT

automatic feeding of coal to the boiler furnace. Coal is weighed and led to a hopper through a conveyer mechanism. Coal entry is above or below the air entry. Enough storage of coal to last for 15 days or so.

ASH HANDLING PLANT.

Coal contains a considerable amount of ash.

Ash formed in the boiler is disposed by the ash handling plant.

Ambuja and Grasim have announced plans to set up cement units near the plant, to use the fly-ash generated from the plant. The unsold ash has been used to create a flourishing nature park around the plant.

ASH MOUND

The 550-acre ash mound acts as an ecosystem for both flora and fauna.

Plant operators monitor and operate.

The system gives operators both audible and visual signals.

ADVANTAGES

The fuel used is quite cheap. Less initial cost as compared to other generating plants. It can be installed at any place irrespective of the existence of coal. It require less space as compared to Hydro power plants. Cost of generation is less than that of diesel power plants.

DISADVANTAGES

It pollutes the atmosphere due to production of large amount of smoke and fumes.

It is costlier in running cost as compared to Hydro electric plants.
