STARTING WITH AN AUTHORIZED CAPITAL OF RS 5 MILLION. THE MERCANTILE BANK SOON OPENED OFFICES IN LONDON, MADRAS, COLOMBO, FOLLOWED BY CALCUTTA ,SINGAPORE, HONG KONG, AND SHANGHAI BY 1855 .
