Via Latin for moving out of what is perceived as normal or usual. Deviance is defined as any phenomena that is perceived as unusual or abnormal or things that occur away from the ordinary. Examples Artists, Actors, Authors, Musical composers, Alternative thinkers.

Deviance vs. Crime


Primary

Deviance Deviance that is generally acceptable and still open for reform or correction by authorities including parents, teachers, school discipline officers, and law enforcers. Secondary Deviance Repetitive or relatively chronic deviance which consequently becomes a career for the individual that may eventually lead to a life of crime.

Definition of Crime
Crime

The outright violation of a set of laws by an individual or group of individuals against life and property. Petty Crime this is popularly described as level 1 crime. It is also legally defined as misdemeanours like petty theft, vandalism, pickpocket ting, snatching, bag slashing, riding in tandem, etc.

Delinquency criminal acts committed by minors belonging to an age group of 16-18 but not readily punished unlike an adult justice system. Organized Crime crime which is usually established by large families against life and property. Ex. Mafia, Yakuza Felonies Relatively organized and more big-time type of crime. Ex. Bank Robbery
