Assesment and decision of the proposal by Product Screening Group and decison
Assess acceptability, possible price, volume, how the new product fit company's objectives and product profile.
Assess how the new product fit with the current production capability, estimate cost to make in various lot sizes
CONSTRUCTION PROCESS
The need for new construction arising from commercial, economic, technological and sociological factors
Assessment and decision of the need based on organisation aim, objective and policy by management
Develop project aim & objective, outline brief, development programme, set budget & identify sites
Develop alternative concept, programme, organisation, prelim. cost and time estimate
Evaluate alternatives concepts against cost, time and company's aim, objective and policy
Decision to build according to the specified concept, cost and time contained in feasibility report
Design for production, analysis of strength, wear, vibrations, power requirement weights etc.
Material and process selection based on desired quality attributes and cost of production
Design of tooling and machinery; Plant layout and material handling; building and infrastructure (if needed)
Detail specification of items to be procuredmaterials, machinery & tools, plants, facilities (bldg) & disposal etc
Methods and labour planning and inspection; and overall cost analysis
Final review for management on product design, manufacturing system , revised cost estimate & production time
