INTRODUCTION:Due to its non biodegradable nature it creates stagnation of water and associated hygiene problems. Plastic in different forms is found to be almost 5% in municipal solid waste, which is toxic in nature Experiments have been carried out whether this waste plastic can be reused productively in the construction of roads. Such roads are not subjected to stripping when come in contact with water.

NEED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION : Disposal of waste plastic is a major problem. It is non-biodegradable. Burning of these waste plastic bags causes environmental pollution. It mainly consists of low-density polyethylene. To find its utility in bituminous mixes for road construction.

Strength of the road increased Better resistance to water and water stagnation No stripping and have no potholes. Increased binding and better bonding of the mix. Increased load withstanding property( Withstanding increased load transport) Overall consumption of bitumen decreases. Reduction in pores in aggregate and hence less rutting. Better soundness property. Maintenance cost of the road is almost nil. The Road life period is substantially increased. No leaching of plastics. No effect of radiation like UV.
For 1km X 3.75m road, 1 ton of plastic (10 lakh carry bags) is used and 1 ton of Bitumen is saved.

CONCLUSION
Plastic roads would be a boon for Indias hot and extremely humid climate, where temperatures frequently cross 50C and torrential rains create havoc, leaving most of the roads with big potholes. It is hoped that in near future we will have strong, durable and eco-friendly roads which will relieve the earth from all type of plasticwaste.
