The Romanian Educational System


Since 1989 the Romanian educational system whish is tuition-free, has been through several reforms- each interesting in its own way, but it has also been regulated and enforced at every step - by the Ministry of Education and Research.

School
Most children start school at the age of seven. Most elementary schools are public. It is compulsory in Romania to go to school until the 10th grade (when pupils are 16 or 17) but most pupils graduate the 12th grade and they take the baccalaureate exam.
