Performances
Reliance Industries(RIL) has seen an increase in its top line to 90335 cr for
the quarter end September 2012 in compared to September 2011 last
year with an increase of 15%
However there have been an decrease in net profit which fell by 6% .i.e.
5376 crore September 2012 as compared to 5703 crore September 2011
The Year on Year drop in profit earning could be attributed to decrease in
operating margins by 400 bps to 8.5%.
Cost of raw materials as a percentage to net sales (net of stock
adjustment) rose 380 bps to 84.5% mainly due to high crude oil prices.
As a result operating profit fell 22% to 7705 crore.
Other income jumped 92% to 2112 crore due to higher cash balance.
Other income now forms 31% of the total PBT earned by the company in
Q2FY'13.

The Interest cost has seen an increase of 12% that is 737 crore September
2012 as compared to 660 crore September 2011 last year
While the depreciation cost has shown an drop by 23% to 2277 crore
September 2012 as compared to 2969 crore September 2011 last year
PBIT margins fell across the entire segment. Petrochemical PBIT margins fell
360 bps to 7.9%
due to the base effect of higher prices. Refining PBIT margins fell 30 bps to
4.2% due to lower
refining margin. RIL's Gross Refining Margin (GRM) for Q2 FY13 was $ 9.5
/bbl as compared to $
10.1/bbl in the same period last year. Oil and Gas PBIT margins fell 450 bps
to 38.4%
