Evaluation Procedure (Book Review)

Preliminary Information
Explain the basic/core information about the book including publisher, year of publication, number of chapters, writers introduction, core subject matter, readers level and the past experience of the writer that influenced the writer to compose such text.

Presentation Style
How has the writer presented the experiences? What approach of presentation has been adopted? Is the content a narration or a dialogue? Does the book describe things or does it build arguments Does the style suit the target readers schema and experiences?

Content Exploration Approach


What is the approach of the writer? How does he see events that are described? Does the writer depend on direct evidence? Has the writer quoted events indirectly? What is the source of information collected? Does the content or events presented challenge the readers? Has the content been explored through a systematic approach?

Writers Messages
What core message does the book give to the readers? Is the message a unit or a universe in itself? Is the message clear in its meaning magnitude and impact?

Technicality of Expressions
Are the expressions used keeping in view the level of the reders? Is the technicality clear and purposeful in meaning to the readers? Are the expressions part of real life experiences? Are technical issues raised clearly?

Professional Relevance
Does the book relate to other professional disciplines in some way? If yes, how? Does the book not relate to other professional disciplines in some way? If not, why? How does the book contribute to develop your understanding of professional relevance?

Coherence of Ideas
Are the ideas presented coherently? Is there a close relationship between presented experience and the real events? Are the ideas presented unique in some way?

Content Authenticity
Is the content authentic? What is the source of content authenticity?

Strength of the Book


What is the major strength of the book? How does it assist learning at the Ph D level?

Weaknesses of the Book


What is the weakness of the book? What practical measures do you suggest to improve it?

Repetition Control
Has the writer repeatedly discussed something in the book?

Critical Understanding
What critical understanding is developed through reading this book?

Target Audience
Who is the book really for/ How does the book serve the purpose to common readers?

Critical Reflections
What are you able to reflect after you have read the book? How will you reflect the findings and the message of the book in your professional learning? What professional scenario is required to reflect what you have learned and read?
