L-Glutamic Acid
L-glutamic acid, also known as glutamic acid, is one of the many components of proteins. Glutamate is a major neurotransmitter that plays a key role in cognitive function and memory. L-glutamic acid is produced naturally by the body in amounts adequate for most people.
Glutamate is the most common excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain and spinal cord, meaning it increases activity in the central nervous system. Glutamic acid increases brain function and mental activity.
To act as a neurotransmitter, glutamic acid must attach itself to specific receptors in the central nervous system. One such receptor is the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor, also called the NMDA receptor.
Other Function
Metabolizing sugars and fats Synthesizing muscle proteins Helping control alcoholism and depression Shortening the healing time of ulcers Alleviating fatigue Treating schizophrenia and senility.
Chinese Restaurant Syndrome Rapid heartbeat Headaches Flushing Itching Asthma attacks
Together with L-glutamic acid works for increasing concentration and brain memory Decrease the level of Homocystein, substance that damages and harms brain cells so that causes memory loses.
Education
There were some observation about folic acid level in teenager. And it is proven that teenager who has higher folic acid has better achievement in education
Mental Healthy
- Folic acid is a key to balance chemical substance in brain and accuracy regulatory of the function of neurotransmitter nutrition. - Increasing SAMe (S-adenosylmethionine) level Serotinin
Pregnancy
Used for making new cells Good for brain and backbone growth of fetus
Other Benefits
Alzheimers disease age-related hearing loss preventing the eye disease age-related macular degeneration (AMD) reducing signs of aging weak bones (osteoporosis) jumpy legs (restless leg syndrome) sleep problems muscle pain a skin disease called vitiligo inherited disease called Fragile-X syndrome It is also used for reducing harmful side effects of treatment with the medications lometrexol and methotrexate Together with vitamin B12 take part in blood clots
Side Effects
Folic Acid with Vitamin B6 and B12: Diarrhea; drowsiness. alergic heart attack, stroke, or age-related memory decline at bay Cancer Lower blood pressure

Selenium Defficiancy
Keshan Disease, which results in an enlarged heart and poor heart function, occurs in selenium deficient children. Kashin-Beck Disease, which results in osteoarthropathy Myxedematous Endemic Cretinism, which results in mental retardation
