Since prehistoric times, plants and their extracts have been used for their healing properties.

Plants have always been the basis for medicines used universally. The bible says that everything we need is in the earth. So true, as nutritional supplements derive from plants.

Some species of plants contain the base chemicals for many of the product on todays medicine shelves. An example is the presence of aspirin in the Willow tree. Before aspirin was synthesised artificially. People used to chew on willow bark to remedy headaches.

Many plants are crushed and their juices are extracted through the process of centrifugation & filtration .The products can then be put into capsules and taken as medicine.

Black Pepper : Medicinal Value :It is an essential ingredient in Indian medicine. Piperine, the pungent principle in pepper oleoresin helps to enhance bio-availability and therefore used in pharmaceuticals. The major functional properties of pepper are analgesic, anti-pyretic & anti-oxidant & anti-microbial.
Curry Leaves : Medicinal Value :It is a good digestive, especially after fatty & fried food. It helps in certain diseases like nausea, sour belching, heartburn, morning sickness, diarrhea, dysentery, bilious vomiting & hemorrhoids. Nutmeg : Medicinal Value :It used as condiment particularly in sweet foods. It also used in the preparation of meat products, soups, sauces, baked foods, confectionaries, puddings, seasoning of meat & vegetable etc. Clove : Medicinal Value :Its uses mainly for culinary purposes and as a flavouring agent in food industry. It is highly valued in medicine as carminative, aromatic & stimulant.

Alfalfa is a perennial flowering plant in the pea family Fabaceae cultivated as an important forage crop in the US, Canada, Argentina, France, Australia, the Middle East, South Africa, and many other countries. The English name is adopted from the Spanish, originally alfalfez, which in turn is derived from the Arabic al-fisfisa "fresh fodder". The Spanish name is widely used, particularly in the US but it is also known as lucerne in the UK, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, erba medica in Italy, meaning medical herb, luzerne in France, and lucerne grass in south Asian English. It superficially resembles clover, with clusters of small purple flowers followed by fruits spiralled in 2 to 3 turns containing 10-20 seeds. Alfalfa has been cultivated by humans since at least the 4th century CE and has some use in herbal medicine.

Lowering cholesterol in people with high cholesterol. Taking alfalfa seeds seems to lower total cholesterol and bad low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in people with high cholesterol levels.

Mimosa is a genus of about 400 species of herbs and shrubs, in the subfamily Mimosoideae of the legume family Fabaceae. The generic name is derived from the Greek word (mimos), meaning "mimic." There are two species in the genus that are notable. One is Mimosa pudica, because of the way it folds its leaves when touched or exposed to heat. It is native to southern Central and South America but is widely cultivated elsewhere for its curiosity value, both as a houseplant in temperate areas, and outdoors in the tropics. Outdoor cultivation has led to weedy invasion in some areas, notably Hawaii.

laburnum is the symbol of the beauty and charm of Kerala. Cassia fistula lin is the scientific name of this plant . Easily evaporating oil is present in the root and bark of the tree.

UTILISATION Applying the tender Laburnum leaves is good for eczema. Taking in of the leaves of the tree ground to paste helps to cure paralytic stroke and brain diseases . Skin diseases can be cured if the decoction made from the bark of the tree is drunk twice a day.

Cedrus deodar is a species of cedar native to the western Himalayas, northern Pakistan, northcentral India . occurring at 15003200 m altitude. It is a large evergreen coniferous tree reaching 4050 m tall, approx. 60 m, with a trunk up to 3 m dm. It has a conic crown with level branches and drooping branchlets. It derives from the Sanskrit term devadru, which means "wood of the gods, a compound of deva (god) and dru (wood, etym. tree). This tree is also the national tree of the country Pakistan.

The inner wood is aromatic and used to make incense. Inner wood is distilled into essential oil which is used as insect repellent. It also has antifungal properties and has some potential for control of fungal deterioration of spices during storage. Cedar oil is often used for its aromatic properties, especially in aromatherapy, in soap perfumes, household sprays, and is also used in microscope work as a clearing oil. Cedrus deodar contains large amounts of taxifolin.

Aloe Vera is without a doubt the medicinal herb most widely known for its noticeable impacts on health and at the same time the ingredient most widely used in the cosmetic industry.

Lavender is believed to be of benefit for a multitude of problems, including stress, anxiety, exhaustion, irritability, headaches, migraines, insomnia, depression, colds, digestion, flatulence, upset stomach, liver and gallbladder problems, nervousness, loss of appetite, and as a breath freshener and mouthwash. It can be applied directly for cuts, scrapes, wounds, burns, bee, wasp, insect stings, rashes, muscle aches, cold sores and rubbed directly into the temples in case of headache or migraine.
