THE HYDROSPHERE The Blue planet The hydrosphere is all the water on the planet and it is made of oceans and seas, rivers, lakes, groundwater, glaciers and the polar regions.
Will talk about this in the last part of the unit. Butdont forget. Not that easy to get water
Water covers 71% of the Earths surface. Salt water represents more than 97% of the total water on Earth. Fresh water (= agua dulce) represents less than 3% of all the water on our planet.
Most of this fresh water (77%) is ice (in glaciars and at the polar regions. Groundwater represents 22% of the fresh water. Surface water and water vapour represents only 1%
SALT WATER (OCEANS AND SEAS) REPRESENTS MORE THAN 97% OF THE TOTAL WATER ON EARTH.
A continuous body of water encircling the Earth, the world (global) ocean is divided into a number of principal areas. Five oceanic divisions are usually recognized: Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, and Southern; th e last two listed are sometimes consolidated into the first three. http://www.oceansportal.org/topics/view/17061/
FRESH WATER REPRESENTS LESS THAN 3% OF ALL THE WATER ON OUR PLANET. IT IS FOUND IN:
rivers lakes groundwater glaciars at the polar regions
rivers
glaciers
groundwater
polar regions
Where is my ice?
What has happenned? Will talk about this in the last part of the unit.
REMEMBER:
Most of this fresh water (which represents less than 3 % of the total water of the Earth, is ice, found in glaciars and at the polar regions: 77% Groundwater represents 22% of the fresh water. Surface water and water vapour represents only 1% And
ONLY 0.014%
OF THE FRESH WATER CAN BE USED FOR CONSUMPTION SO
EVEN IF THERE IS ALWAYS THE SAME AMOUNT OF WATER WE ALL SHOULD CARE
The water cycle It is the continual movement of water on Earth. Hacer vocabulario 3 main Stages (=fases) 1. Water from the sea evaporates 2. Water vapour rises, cools and condenses. Clouds form. 3. Wind moves the clouds. 4. Condensed vapour falls as precipitation: rain, snow or hail. 5. Some water infiltrates into the ground. 6. Goundwater goes into the sea. And other rivers.
The Earth is the only planet where you can find water liquid, solid and vapour And there is always the same amount of water
