PROPAGANDA
Propaganda are facts that are systematically and deliberately distorted. Propaganda are information, ideas and rumors spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc.

PROPAGANDA DEVICES
Kinds and examples

NAME CALLING
Appeals to your hates and fears. Uses horned words such as communist, agitator, anarchist, dictator, traitor, coward, etc.

GLITTERING GENERALITIES
Giving a halo to ones program by using general terms that connote virtues such as justice, peace, love, honor, equality, liberty, democracy.

TRANSFER / ASSOCIATION
Establishes connection between ideas presented and another object, person, party, cause or idea which people respect.

TESTIMONIAL
An endorsement by a well-known personality is used to make you accept a product, program or project.

PLAIN FOLKS
Encourages people to believe that a persons views are acceptable because he/she acts just like the folks at home or that a product is good because this is what folks at home are using.

CARD STACKING
Stresses the good qualities of a product while belittling others without looking bad. This is achieved through half-truths, innuendoes, threats, evasions.

BANDWAGON
Urges you to use a product, join a movement or a cause or support a candidate just because everyones doing it. It works on the theory that most people do not want to be different.
