During the Mosaic Period, special oils were designated by God to sanctify (set apart) an entire Hebraic genealogy known as the Cohanim (priests).

The Power of Fragrance

Spices and oils were an integral part of the Hebraic culture in Biblical times. Jewish Households used essential oils for medicinal and therapeutic purposes. Distance travelers were welcomed with hospitality of foot-washing and anointed with soothing balms. Spices were used in priestly duties, for anointing the worship instruments in the Temple. Spices are now an integral part of the Havdalah service at the close of Sabbath.

Tests of new machine at a hospital have found it could be effective in the battle against the superbug MRSA. Consultants at Wythenshawe Hospital found that using a vaporiser to spray essential oils into the atmosphere killed off micro-organisms. Airborne bacterial counts dropped by 90% and infections were reduced in a ninemonth trial at the burns unit. The recipe of oils used in the machine was refined by microbiologists at Manchester Metropolitan University. Scent Technologies, the Wigan-based company which makes the machine, developed the device to mask smells on wards but found it had a beneficial effect on infections. The study was started after the recipe of oils was modified by the university team, in conjunction with Wythenshawe consultant Ken Dunn. There were no MRSA infections in the burns unit while the machine was being used with the recipe of oils. In the final two months the natural essence blend was removed from the machines and MRSA levels in the air increased - and there was an MRSA outbreak in the ward.

In Leviticus 14, there is a cleansing ritual for leprosy where cedarwood and hyssop oils are applied to the tip of right ear, the right thumb, and the right toe.
The human body contains more than 1400 VitaFlex points. The soles of the feet are mirror images of the internal workings of these points of energy.
The Lord God of Israel sanctified the feet of the priests and told Joshua as soon as the soles of the feet of those who bore the Ark of the Covenant (priests) touched the waters of the Jordan . . . indeed it would divide and stand as a heap.

is most commonly used as a fixing oil in ancient times (combined with other fragrances to help last longer).
The Holy Incense

The
Levite Priests were the apothecaries during Biblical times. God commanded the incense be burnt 24 hours a day in the tabernacle temple. The Levite Priests created blends of oils for worship, as well as for medicine, as part of their duty.
In the Old Testament Apocrypha (180 B.C.) the formula for holy incense is found in Sirach 24:15, 1000 years after Moses.
Frankincense
The
Egyptians considered it to be the universal cure-all, everything from gout to a broken head or head to toe. Prescribed as part of the Holy Incense in Exodus 30:34-36. Fumigation was one of the ways people in Bible times used this oil.

Moses asked the elders of Israel to sacrifice a lamb and use a branch of hyssop to apply the blood of the lamb to the doorposts of their dwellings.
(This was the first Passover when the Spirit of death passed through Egypt, killing all the firstborn sons of every household except those marked with the blood of the lamb from the hyssop branch.)
Gods instructions were to strike the lintel and doorposts, which would bruise the hyssop leaves, releasing the oil and scent of the plant.

The
scent was considered to be spiritually purifying. Believed to aid in cleansing one from sin, immorality, evil thoughts and habits. Used for cleansing cuts and wounds.
Only the Blood of Yeshua can forgive, but we still store these actions, thoughts and guilt baggage in our bodies.
Hyssop has constituents that can reprogram the DNA where sinful tendencies (negative emotions) are stored, thus releasing and cleansing the root cause of the action.

It also grows in the U.S., most likely arriving with European immigrants more than 100 years ago. Today, France is the major producer of Hyssop. The plant grows from 1? feet in height and produces blue, red and white flowers. The flowering tops of hyssop are collected in August and dried in the sun. The name "hyssop" is derived from the Hebrew "ezob" meaning "holy herb." The use of hyssop as an herbal remedy dates back to Biblical times. In fact, it is mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments as a cleansing agent (although these references may be to other species of hyssop such as Origanum aegypticum or to Origanum syriacum, rather than H. officinalis).1,2 Hyssop has been prescribed for a multitude of medical conditions. It is known as an antispasmodic, expectorant, emmenagogue (i.e., an agent that induces or increases menstrual flow), stimulant and tonic. It is used for cough, bronchitis and chronic catarrh, and has a tonic effect on the digestive, urinary, nervous and bronchial systems.1,3 Culpeper recommended allowing the hot vapors of a hyssop decoction to reach the ear by means of a funnel to ease inflammation and tinnitus. He also prescribed hyssop boiled in wine and vinegar for bruises (although he was unclear if this solution could be used internally as well as externally).4 Both the alcoholic extract and decoction have antifungal effects and inhibit sweating.5 There are many nonmedical uses of hyssop as well. The flowers and leaves can be used as flavoring agents in teas, tonics and candy, and as a spice in cooking. Liqueur manufacturers use hyssop as an important constituent of bitter aperitifs like Chartreuse. In addition, the essential oil has been used in perfumes, colognes, soaps, creams and other cosmetics.

Rose of Sharon

as the Rock Rose, Cistus or Cistus Ladanifer. Not a thorny bush with multi-petaled flowers as we know the true rose. Has a honey-scent and aromatic gum that exudes from the plant. Research has been conducted on the cell regeneration properties of this oil.
The gum of the rock rose would become entangled in the wool of the sheep and goats. When the shepherds had cuts and abrasions, they would rub this resin from the fur onto their wounds to soothe and heal them.
Can you smell the difference?

You can find many variations of anointing oils at your Christian bookstore and online.
Polymerization is where small molecules link together forming chains and growing into large molecules. The small molecule is what allows us to smell essential oils. When the molecules grow, the scent vanishes as well.
