Small-scale Industries Board (SSI Board)


Constituted in 1954 to facilitate the coordination and interinstitutional linkages for the development of SSI sector The Board is an apex advisory body constituted to render advice to the government on all issues pertaining to the SSI sector The office of the Development Commissioner (Small-Scale Industry) serves as the secretariat for the board The Board operates broadly in the following areas: - Policies & programs -Development of industries in specific region like Northeast -Ancillary development, quality improvement, mktg. assistance - Credit facilities, taxation and modernization - Industrial sickness

State Level Institutions SIDC / SIIC and SSIDC


State Industrial Development / Investment Corporation (SIDC/SIIC) Set up under the Companies Act, 1956, as wholly owned undertakings of the State governments, act as catalysts in respective states. SIDC helps in developing land providing developed plots together with facilities like roads, power, water supply, drainage and other amenities.

SIDCO
Small Industries Development Corporations (SIDCO) are state-owned companies or agencies in the states of India which were established at various times under the policy of Government of India for the promotion of small sale industries. A few of the SIDCOs are: Kerala Small Industries Development Corporation Limited Small Industries Development Corporation of Jammu and Kashmir Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (TANSIDCO).

Kerala Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (Kerala SIDCO) is a state agency of Kerala, India, established for the promotion of small scale industries in the state of Kerala. It works in association with the National Small Industries Development Corporation. Apart from acting as the dispenser of government subsidies for starting a new small scale industry, the Kerala SIDCO provides technical assistance, training, and also connects up the aspirant industrialists to suppliers of raw materials as well as machinery. Kerala SIDCO operates Industrial Parks, Industrial Estates, and Mini Industrial Estates in all the 14 districts of Kerala.

Tamilnadu Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (TANSIDCO), an undertaking of Government of Tamilnadu, functions with the specific objective of playing catalytic role in the promotion and development of Small Scale Industries and hastening the industrial dispersal throughout Tamilnadu. The key areas of TANSIDCOs activities are as follows: Development of industrial estates with infrastructure facilities and provision of work sheds & developed plots. J&K SIDCO (Jammu & Kashmir State Industrial Development Corporation) is the nodal agency for promotion & development of medium and large scale Industries in the state. Since its inception J&K SIDCO has acted as a prime mover in the State for promotion of Industrial ventures and thus is playing the role of "Institutional Entrepreneur". J&K (Jammu & Kashmir) is the northern most State of India offer boundless investment opportunities to the prospective Investors, as the State has rich resources of Water, Agro, Forests, Herbal and Minerals in addition to its unparallel natural beauty and hence tremendous potential for investment in tourism sector.
