In 2006, Infosys Technology Limited was one of the biggest IT companies. In 2005, earned revenue of US $1.6 billion and had over 49,000 employees worldwide. First Indian Company to be listed on the NASDAQ in 1999. In 2001 & 2002 was rated as Best Employer in India.

1981: N.R. Narayana Murthy started Data Basics Corp with capital investment of US $250. 1987: Established first international office at California, US. 1988: Infosys bagged its first major order from footwear giant Reebok.

1993: It successfully completed its IPO (Initial Public Offering) and is shares became one of most popular scrip in stock exchange.

1995: Became the 5th largest software exporter in India. 1996, 1997: Setup office in UK and Canada. 1999: Achieved annual revenues of US $100 million, opened office in Germany, Sweden, Belgium and Australia. 2005: Infosys crossed US $ .6 billion in annual revenues.

Top 20% of students from premiere colleges, universities are short-listed. Rigorous selection procedure involved aptitude test & interviews. Candidates are judged mainly on their analytical skills and communication skills. In 2003, 0.6 millions applications, out of which job offer was given to only 6,200. In 2005, 1.3 million people had applied out of which only 15,000 were hired.

Technical Training:
Offered by Education & Research Dept. Every new recruit underwent 141/2 weeks integrated training. The training was given through e-learning module which was a combination of instructor- led and on-line learning. Periodic workshops were conducted and at the end of workshop participants gave an online test which was considered for the appraisal system.

The Quality Process Training:


Closely mirrored the technical training and followed the progression path that professionals took through their career. It included programme for new recruits, software engineers, programme analysts and programme managers.

The Personal effectiveness training:


Conducted by the Infosys Finishing School. 8 days training programme for freshers for enhancing skills like business etiquettes, communication, assertiveness & customer skills. Management development programme- addressed specific training needs of employees as they progressed in their career.

The Infosys Leadership System:


ILI with world class infrastructure was based in Mysore. It addressed the issue of sustained growth and committed system for developing leadership qualities in Infoscions.

This school has uniqueness lies in its ability to act as an engine that supports to organization growth in number of employees and preparing highly competent workforce. It was a formal, planned and intense programme to enhance the technical and behavioural competencies of fresh recruits. Consisted of generic and conceptual courses, platform specific courses, mini projects for application and end term projects. Well qualified technical and behavioural specialists served as full time faculty.

Campus connect is a programme designed to address the need of educational institutes, so as to produce industry ready recruits
It held Faculty Enablement Programs- shared educational experiences and best practices with faculty. Also launched Campus Connect Portal- hosted technology related information. Through this program, the company aimed at reducing training cost by at least 40 to 50%

In February 2005, Infosys eshtablished Infosys U. State- of- art training rooms with latest technologies. 14 days training on global etiquette, comportment, body language,public speaking, team- building & interpersonal skills. It also had Employee Care Centre In 2006, Infosys U had capacity to train over 4000 freshers and plans to increase to 10,000 by 2007.
