WAL-MART
Introduction to Wal-Mart:

Wal-Mart Stores is an American public multinational corporation that runs a chain of large discount department stores and a chain of warehouse stores. Wal-Mart has 8,500 stores in 15 countries, with 55 different names.

Walmart remains a family-owned business, as the company is controlled by the Walton family.

Unlike many other retailers, Wal-Mart does not charge a slotting fee to
suppliers for their products to appear in the store. Instead, it focuses on selling more popular products and provides incentives for store managers to

drop unpopular products, as well as asking manufacturers to supply more

popular products.

RFID IN WAL-MART AND ITS EFFICIENCY

Wal-Mart had initiated its plan to employ RFID(Radio Frequency

Identification Technology) technology in its supply chain in June 2003.

Wal-Mart tapped RFID technology with an aim to increase the efficiency

of its supply chain. This is because RFID implementation will enhance transparency of their supply chain and hence will help them minimize cost

and labour and will strengthen inventory control.

Aims to reduce the practice of manually placing the order and has

achieved 10% reduction., increasing the suppliers and are trying to

expand regional and domestic implementation of RFID.
