The assigned group explains the 5E Principles of Constructivism.

Other groups apply the 5E Principles of Constructivism in the teaching and learning. Integration of ICT is encouraged.

Constructivism is a learning strategy that draws on students' existing knowledge, beliefs, and skills. With a constructivist approach, students synthesize new understanding from prior learning and new information.

The constructivist teacher sets up problems and monitors student exploration, guides student inquiry, and promotes new patterns of thinking. Working mostly with raw data, primary sources, and interactive material, constructivist teaching asks students to work with their own data and learn to direct their own explorations. Ultimately, students begin to think of learning as accumulated, evolving knowledge.

An instructional model based on the Constructivists approach to learning. Learners build or construct new ideas on top of their old ideas

can be used with students of all ages,

including adults

Describes phase of learning in which each phase begins with the letter E
Engagement Exploration Explanation Elaborate

Stimulate learners curiosity To start a lesson with a method that grabs the students attention.

Assign a task, topics or concept Create interest Generate curiosity Raise question

Makes the students to connect the past and present learning experiences/ knowledge.

To satisfy curiosity. Provides opportunity for the students to develop concepts, processes and skills.

Use inquiry to explore and investigate Do experiments Encourage students to work together Ask questions

Gives a hands-on activity that can develop skills, concepts, and knowledge.

Able to explain and define concepts and terms explored in the activities.
Define and explain concepts Question others explanation Ask for justification and clarification

Students have opportunities to verbalize their conceptual understanding or to demonstrate new skills or behaviors Teachers can introduce formal terms and explanation

Extends the concept into other content areas. Students use the concept acquired on other fields or subjects.

Make connections and see relationships of the

concept in other areas Concepts connections to a real world situation.

Amplifies students conceptual understanding and allows students to practice the knowledge and skills Ale to obtain more info on areas of interest.

Examine learners understanding

Demonstrate understanding or knowledge of

the concept or skill Students assess their own understanding and abilities

Teachers will be able to evaluate students' understanding of key concepts and skill development
Activities permit evaluation of the student

development and lessons effectiveness Use WH question pertaining the concept

Students
Develop critical thinking skills Able to make connections between the

previously acquired knowledge and the new ones. Able to implement understandings, concepts and skills
Acquired in the past and use those knowledge in the new ones Acquired in an area or field and use those knowledge in other areas, fields or branches of education

Amplifies creativity and ones abilities

One day, you decided to do jungle trekking, alone because you are confident with your capabilities and skills. Unfortunately, you got lost in the jungle. Adding to that, you had and accident, and you injured your leg badly. You took your time and rest. You find out that you can still walk but not with all the weight that you are carrying in your backpack. You check the items that you have in your backpack, and you found that you have 12 items. You realise, with your injured leg, you can only carry 6 items to be able to walk.
