And surely, We shall try you till We test those who strive hard and As-Sabirun (the patient ones), and We shall test your facts (i.e. the one who is a liar, and the one who is truthful). )(47:31

Surah An-Nahl

Allah sets forth a parable: a city enjoying security and quiet, abundantly supplied with sustenance from every place: yet was it ungrateful for the favors of Allah: so Allah made it taste of hunger and terror (in extremes) (closing in on it) like a garment (from every side), )because of the (evil) which (its people) wrought. (16:112

1. Believers Must Always Be Prepared to Face Trials Do men think that they will be left alone on saying We believe and that they will not be tested? (29:2) Surah AnkabootS 2. Trials are a Sign of Love By Allah Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "If Allah wants to do good to somebody, He afflicts him with trials." ( Bukhari) 3. Allah Never Gives a Trial That is Too Great to Bear On no soul doth Allah place a burden greater than it can bear. (2:286) 4. The Stronger the Faith, the Harder the Test, and the Greater the Reward Persons most prone to trials are prophets, then the pious, then less pious (Bukhari) 5. All things are temporary in this world, whether it is happiness or sadness.

Verily with every difficulty, there is relief. (94:6) Surah Ash Sharh

2:155
6. Always Have Focus on the Hereafter. The magnitude of the reward goes along with the magnitude of the trial (Tirmidhi) 7. Allah is always FAIR.

Allah (swt) says in a hadith Qudsi: O My servants, I have forbidden injustice for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not commit acts of injustice against one another.

8. Always thank Allah when you pass in a Test. Whenever you fail, do Istaghfar and follow it up with a good deed. Patience is only at the first (stroke) of grief. (Bukhari and Muslim)

9. Knowledge precedes actions.

Give sadaqa without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity. (Tirmidhi)

2:155

Anas (RA) narrated that a son of Ab Talhah (RA) fell ill and died one day when Ab Talhah was away from home. When Ab Talhahs wife realized that her son had died, she covered him with a blanket, and left him lying by the wall. Ab Talhah came home and asked how the boy was, and his wife told him: He has calmed down and I hope he is resting, so Ab Talhah thought that the child was getting better. That night he slept with his wife, and in the morning he got up and performed ghusl. When he was about to go out, he wife told him that his son had died. So Ab Talhah went and prayed with the Prophet (SAAS), then told him what had happened. The Prophet (SAW) responded by saying, May Allh bless this last night of yours. A man from Ansr said, I have seen nine children of the man who was born as result of that night, and all of them have read the Qurn. (Al-Bukhr)

2:156 Imam Ahmad reported that Umm Salamah narrated: Once, Abu Salamah came back after he was with Allah's Messenger and said: I heard Allah's Messenger recite a statement that made me delighted. He said: No Muslim is struck with an affliction and then says Istirja` when the affliction strikes, and then says: `O Allah! Reward me for my loss and give me what is better than it,' but Allah will do just that.
Umm Salamah said: So I memorized these words. When Abu Salamah died I said Istirja` and said: "O Allah! Compensate me for my loss and give me what is better than it.'' I then thought about it and said, "Who is better than Abu Salamah'' When my `Iddah (the period of time before the widow or divorced woman can remarry) finished, Allah's Messenger asked for permission to see me while I was dyeing a skin that I had. I washed my hands, gave him permission to enter and handed him a pillow, and he sat on it. He then asked me for marriage and when he finished his speech, I said, "O Messenger of Allah! It is not because I do not want you, but I am very jealous and I fear that you might experience some wrong mannerism from me for which Allah would punish me. I am old and have children.'' He said: As for the jealousy that you mentioned, Allah the Exalted will remove it from you. As for your being old as you mentioned, I have suffered what you have suffered. And for your having children, they are my children too. She said, "I have surrendered to Allah's Messenger.'' Allah's Messenger married her and Umm Salamah said later, "Allah compensated me with who is better than Abu Salamah: Allah's Messenger .''
Ahmad/Muslim

2:156

Anas (RA) reported that: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Let not one of you wish for death because of a misfortune which befalls him. If he cannot help doing so, he should say: 'O Allah, keep me alive as long as You know that life is better for me, and make me die when death is better for me".
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Riyadh as Saleheen Commentary: Since man has no knowledge of his future, whether it is good or bad, so one should never desire for one's own death in consequence of frustration created by troubles and turmoil for two reasons. Firstly, desire for death is sheer impatience. Secondly, it is quite possible that remaining part of his life may be good for his religious and worldly life. So, it is prohibited to desire death. It is, however, permissible to desire for Shahadah or death in Makkah or Al-Madinah but it is a subject quite different from the one under discussion. However, if one has to express wish for his own death, he should do so in the words quoted in the Hadith concerned.

2:156 Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "A Muslim, male or female, continues to remain under trial in respect of his life, property and offspring until he faces Allah, the Exalted, with no sin record". [At-Tirmidhi]. Anas (RA) reported that: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "When Allah intends good for His slave, He punishes him in this world, but when He intends an evil for His slave, He does not hasten to take him to task but calls him to account on the Day of Resurrection.''
[At-Tirmidhi].

Riyadh as Saleheen Commentary : This Hadith shows that, for a Muslim, trials are also a blessing in this world because his sins are forgiven in proportion to the trials he has to face and his reward is increased with the Will of Allah. Thus, a Muslim should always be patient and contented in the event of trial because without these qualities he will not have the privilege associated with them. In fact, his impatience would increase his sins even further.

Verily! As-Saf and Al-Marwah (two mountains in Makkah) are of the Symbols of Allh. So it is not a sin on him who performs Hajj or 'Umrah (pilgrimage) of the House (the Ka'bah at Makkah) to perform the going (Tawf) between them (AsSaf and Al-Marwah). The Meaning of "it is not a sin'' in the Ayah

2:158

Imam Ahmad reported that `Urwah said that he asked `A'ishah about what Allah stated: "By Allah! It is not a sin if someone did not perform Tawaf around them.'' `A'ishah said, "Worst is that which you said, O my nephew! If this is the meaning of it, it should have read, `It is not a sin if one did not perform Tawaf around them.' Rather, the Ayah was revealed regarding the Ansar, who before Islam, used to assume Ihlal (or Ihram for Hajj) in the area of Mushallal for their idol Manat that they used to worship. Those who assumed Ihlal for Manat, used to hesitate to perform Tawaf (going) between Mounts As-Safa and Al-Marwah. So they (during the Islamic era) asked Allah's Messenger about it, saying, `O Messenger of Allah! During the time of Jahiliyyah, we used to hesitate to perform Tawaf between AsSafa and Al-Marwah.' Allah then revealed this Ayah (2:158) `A'ishah then said, " Allah's Messenger has made it the Sunnah to perform Tawaf between them (As-Safa and Al-Marwah), and thus, no one should abandon performing Tawaf between them.'' (Ahmad) This Hadith is reported in the Sahihayn.

2:158

Habibah bint Abu Tajrah said, "I saw Allah's Messenger (SAW) performing Tawaf between As-Safa and Al-Marwah, while the people were in front of him and he was behind them walking in Sa`i. I saw his garment twisted around his knees because of the fast walking in Sa`i (he was performing) and he was reciting: Perform Sa`i, for Allah has prescribed Sa`i on you.''
Ahmad 6:421

The Eternal Curse for Those Who hide Religious Commandments

Abu Hurayrah narrated that Allah's Messenger said: (Whoever was asked about knowledge that one has, but he hid it, then a bridle made of fire will be tied around his mouth on the Day of Resurrection.)
Ahmad 2:495 Also by Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi

Abu Hurayrah said, "If it was not for an Ayah (2:159) in Allah's Book, I would not have narrated a Hadith for anyone
Bukhari/ Fath Al Bari

Surah Al-E-Imran

2:159

You [true believers in Islmic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his Sunnah] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'rf (i.e. all that Islm has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (all that Islm has forbidden), and you believe in Allh...(3:110) Surah Al-Baqara Thus We have made you [true Muslims - real believers of Islmic Monotheism, true followers of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his Sunnah (legal ways)], a (just and the best) nation, that you be witnesses over mankind and the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) be a witness over you... (2:143)

Hudhaifah (RA) reported: The Prophet (SAW) said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life is, you either enjoin good and forbid evil, or Allah will certainly soon send His punishment to you. Then you will make supplication and it will not be accepted".
[At-Tirmidhi] Riyadh As Saleheen Hadith # 193

Ibn Mas`ud (RA) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) saying, "May Allah freshen the affairs of a person who hears something from us and communicates it to others exactly as he has heard it (i.e., both the meaning and the words). Many a recipient of knowledge understands it better than the one who has heard it.''
[At-Tirmidhi].

2:159

`Aishah (RA) reported: Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "If anyone introduces in our matter something which does not belong to it, will be rejected".
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

The narration in Muslim says: "If anybody introduces a practice which is not authenticated by me, it is to be rejected".

This Ayah from Al-Taubah 9:100, highlights the importance of Sahaba (companions) (And the foremost to embrace Islam of the Muhajirin and the Ansar and also those who followed them exactly (in faith). Allah is wellpleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.)

Al-Taubah

Rasool Allah (SAW) said: Whoever among you lives (for a long time) will see many differences. I urge you to follow my Sunnah and the way of the rightly-guided khaleefahs who come after me. Hold on to it firmly. Beware of newly-invented matters, for every newly-invented matter is an innovation (Bida) and every innovation is a going astray.
[Ahmad & Tirmidhi]

The Prophet (SAW) said: The best of mankind are my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them.
[Bukhari, Muslim and al-Tirmidhi]

(39. And that man can have nothing but what he does.)

Verily, the best type of provision that one consumes is from what he himself has earned, and one's offspring are among what he has earned.
Ibn Kathir /An Nasai 7:241 When a person dies, his deeds will cease except in three cases: from a righteous descendant who invokes Allah for him, or an ongoing charity after his death, or knowledge that people benefit from. These three things are, in reality, a result of one's own deeds, efforts and actions.
