DISPERSION
The separation of white light into its component colour is known as dispersion of light. It occur because each colour constituent travels at different velocity through the prism. The coloured light are reflected at different angles.
The white sunlight can be dispersed into seven colours called spectrum.
The light spectrum are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
This is the example of natural phenomenon regarding light dispersion is the formation of a rainbow. A rainbow is a spectrum of light formed from the dispersion of sunlight by tiny rain droplets in the air.
A rainbow can be seen if the sun is behind the observer after rain. Raindrop act as a prism White light from the sun enter the raindrops, and get reflected and dispersed just like a prism.
The rainbow is also commonly seen near waterfalls or fountains. The effect can also be artificially created by dispersing water droplets into the air during a sunny day.

LIGHT SCRATTERING
SCATTERING OF LIGHT
Scattering of light takes place when gas molecules, water vapour and dust in the air deflect light from the original path in all direction.
