Ethics
Ethics is the
code of

can be
GOVERNED
with such
CODE OF
Education

The act or process of imparting or

acquiring general knowledge,
developing the powers of reasoning
and judgment and preparing one
selves for intellectually matured life.
Education is a panic zone
now

If ethics in education is followed than

it would make a big difference and
improvement of the society as a
whole.
Real facts
• 61% is the literacy rate in India ,39%
is illerate.
• Education expenditure is 3.2% of
GDP.
• Less Schools, Less teachers and Low
on Ethics.
• Teachers take tuitions out school but
no classes.
• Mid-day meals was introduced to
increase the attendance at Govt.
“ Starting from the admission of a kid in school till
he grows up completes his education and get
placed in a good company ,parents keep on using
all kind of practices to make their kids get
educated in best possible institutes.”

• Un ethical practices starts from…

 Admission to Junior K.G school …. Donations
 Admission to school …. Donations/development
fees.
 Getting good grades…tuitions with the teacher
teaching same subject in school.
 Passing 10th …managing exam invigilator.
 Admission to 12 sci/comm….some more
development fees to college.
 Passing college …..
Continues ……….. Parents keep on encouraging…
• Irregularities in admissions are also common in
many private schools
• percentage of back-door entries 20% to 40%.
• Some of them are known for auctioning their
management-quota or corporate-sponsored
seats.
• one such example is B-school in New Delhi,
where governing board members are known to
guarantee everything from admission to a good
placement for a hefty under-the-table fee.
• students had not even appeared in the
qualifying exam for admissions.
• While some good AICTE-approved B-schools had
to pay heavy penalty to the council for giving
admission to about 60 students illegally beyond
the sanctioned limit. Of course, this is in
connivance with AICTE staff.
• Faculty selection :Some are unwilling to
spend on good faculty and opt for visiting
faculty or hire those with doubtful
academic credentials or faculty
incompetent to teach.
• All this is done just to fulfill AICT norms,
generate higher surplus which is siphoned
off in various ways as, on paper, the trust
or society that runs B-schools can’t show a
profit.
• To improve their brand, some B-schools go
for misleading advertisements …100%
placements * Conditions
applied
• Unethical practices have corroded the
education delivery in many of our
schools and colleges.
• Perhaps that’s the reason, as some
studies have indicated, about 75% of
students graduating from many
professional college are
unemployable.

A method for making ethical decisions

START HERE: What are the facts? Which of my interests might be harmed?
What courses of action are open to me?

3. All interests 3 1 1. Self interests

What course of
How do we maximize the action is best for
ratio of all interests me in the long run?
satisfied over unsatisfied?

2. Professional interests
What course of action is best for us in the long run? How do we respect
the implicit and explicit promises made to each other in the group?
Impact of Unethical Practice

• Medical Profession

• Engineers

• And many more………..

Some Ethical Practice

• Bhaiuji Maharaj running school for

backward class children.
• Many NGO’s work in educational
field.
• Free education for girls up to
graduation by government.
• IT Cos are introducing software
learning packages including AUDIO-
VIDEO Domains.
“You must be the change
you wish to see in the
world.”
Conclusion
A Situation thus arising can
always be classified and
hence have two approaches

Now the Question is How?
