I Have A Dream!
The I Have A Dream speech is one of the most famous speeches ever to be read. Known around the world, the speech is Martin Luther Kings most inspiring and persuasive speech. It is often thought that the speech is what spurred the thousands of Black people to stand up and do something

have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.

Martin Luther King wasnt successful with everyone though. In 1966 Martin decided to focus on dealing with the problems in the North particularly Chicago. The problems there were very different to those in the South. Dealing with the economic and social segregation that he faced here proved difficult. The problems facing blacks in the North, came from a variety of different reasons: education, employment, housing etc. Although King was able to identify the problems he still largely relayed on the same tactics that had used in the South.

Its obvious Martins success didnt touch the heart of everyone though. In 1968 he was shot. The KKK the largest racial discrimination group still exists, many other black citizens took a more violent approach and followed the likes of Malcolm X instead. And finally the amount of racism that still exist today (though not on such a large scale) shows while Martin Luther King made great advancements in civil and equal rights, ultimately he wasnt completely successful even to this day.
