Introduction To The IT Industry

Information technology (IT) is the application of computers and telecommunications equipment to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data, often in the context of a business or other enterprise. The term is commonly used as a synonym for computers and computer networks, but it also encompasses other information distribution technologies such as television and telephones. Several industries are associated with information technology, such as computer hardware, software, electronics, semiconductors, internet, telecom equipment, e-commerce and computer services. In a business context, the Information Technology Association of America has defined information technology as "the study, design, development, application, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems". The responsibilities of those working in the field include network administration, software development and installation, and the planning and management of an organisation's technology life cycle, by which hardware and software is maintained, upgraded, and replaced.

Literature Review
For Jason T. Hauser, who runs a family law and criminal defence practice in Des Moines, Iowa, adopting Web-based practice management software was partly about shaking off the shackles of Windows.

Id never been a fan, Hauser says. For years, he used PCs in his work as a public defender and a prosecutor, largely because that was the government standard. But once he was his own boss, he felt he could work more efficiently on his Mac. By subscribing to Rocket Matter, one of the new breed of Software-as-a-Service offerings, he was able to adopt a Web-based user interface that didnt care whether he was on a PC or a Macbut one that had the ease of use he associated with the Mac.

Continue..
Another Mac enthusiast who uses Rocket Matter is J. Benjamin Stevens of Turnip seed, Brannon & Stevens in Spartanburg, S.C. If I have to figure out how to use it, thats a black mark right out of the gate, he says. The better products, the ones that really cater to the user experience, dont want you to waste your time figuring out how to use it. If you have to pull out the manualwell, I dont have time for that, and most attorneys dont.

Of course, it also made a difference that Rocket Matter cofounder and chief software architect Larry Port happened to be a neighbour and listened to his thoughts on how the system ought to work.

Employees should be more involved in decision making to become more differentiated. Employees and interns should be given feedback for their tasks
