Accessibility
The media center may be accessed by students and teachers from 7:40-2:55 each day Staff may use the media center before and afterschool, and throughout the day
Staffing
The media center at Appling County High School is staffed by a single full-time media specialist. The media specialist works closely with administrators at ACHS, and helps in making administrative decisions
Equipment
All equipment from the media center must be inventoried annually. Each item has a barcode that is clearly labeled with a serial number. The funding used to purchase the item must also be visible on it. iPads may be checked out by teachers for one week. Laptop carts are available for each department. They may be checked out as needed from the department head.
Budget
The media center budget is approved yearly by the local board of education. SPLOST taxes fund most of the updates to the media center.
Circulation Policy
Two books may be checked out at a time
Internet Usage
Internet agreements are signed by students on their first day of high school Students must have these signed in order to use the internet/wireless at school Acceptable websites are allowed to be viewed by students Portguard filters block unacceptable content including social media Violation of these policies will result in ISS or OSS depending on the severity
BYOT
Students may bring their devices to school for classroom use only They may not charge devices at school They must abide by the handbook policies
Since adding iPads and laptops for checkout in the media center, we need to implement a new policy for this.
Teachers should be charged for lost iPads or laptops because they are very costly. In the current budget, there is no money to replace these items.
Policies
All policies are updated each year.
However, most of our policies are not in print or accessible by teachers. The circulation and BYOT policies are in the handbook, but none others.
