ARCHITECTURE IN THE
WORDS OF ARCHITECTS
• On the difference between the ideals
of "architecture" and mere
"construction", the renowned 20th C.
architect Le Corbusier wrote: "You
employ stone, wood, and concrete,
and with these materials you build
houses and palaces: that is
construction. Ingenuity is at work.
But suddenly you touch my heart,
you do me good. I am happy and I

• Victor Hugo a French Novelist wrote
about architecture, “Architecture has
recorded the great ideas of the
human race. Not only every religious
symbol, but every human thought

BRITISH COLONIAL
• The mid nineteen century saw the
start of another short but
architecturally significant period
• British were going to built colleges,
hospitals, post offices, museums,
court houses, assembly halls, city
halls, libraries, country clubs, parks,
stadiums, cantonments and
residential bungalows, railway
stations and yes architecturally

• In one century of British rule
hundreds and hundreds of new
significant public structures were
commissioned throughout the
country
• This was a period of not only
European and English architecture
but also of unique hybrids created by
fusing the elements of English with
the local Islamic architecture

PIRACING
ARCHITECTURE PIRACING
• The illegal or unethical copying or
use of another’s writing, music, ideas
or the like is called “Piracing”.
• The illegal or unethical copying of
another’s ideas about architecture or
design of any building, construction
projects or like that is called
“Architecture Piracing”
REASONS OF
ARCHITECTURE
PIRACING IN
PAKISTAN
LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF
ARCHITECTS

• No belief on personal skills

• No renown institution in Pakistan
which depicts our culture
• No world famous personality or icon
in the field of architecture
CLIENT SATISFACTION

• Lack of options for client

• Use of 3d max, AutoCAD, etc. to
satisfy client
• Due to client satisfaction architects
does not try to introduce some thing
new or exceptional
LACK OF INNOVATIONS

• No advancement in the methodology

of the work
• Copying the ideas of other and try to
implement in our country without
considering the serviceability of
building
• No masterpiece by Pakistani
architect since the independence of
country even mizar-e-Quaid was
ECONOMY FACTOR

• In Pakistan 58% people lives their life

below the poverty graph while in
western countries conditions are
totally change.
• Client always want a good piece of
work in reasonable cost and always
try to avoid the new
experimentation.
TREND IN PAKISTAN

• We can’t blame just architects for

piracing but a client is also
responsible for it to some extent.
• Client usually want resembled work
and this trend in Pakistan
discourages the architects to
produce new ideas

WHY SHOULD
ARCHITECTURE
PIRACING BE
STOPPED
RELIGION
• Religion also contributes a lot to the
type of building your architect will
design for you
• The western world is far more liberal
and most of them are of no religious
linings
• As a Muslim we also have to look for
our religious values
SOCIAL VALUES
• If we compare the two worlds side by
side and see a wide difference in
their living styles
• We might say western way of life is
better, but if you take a second look
you will notice that in Pakistan the
way of living is totally changed due
to our social values
SECURITY
• If you look at some houses in Europe,
they have very low walls or no walls
at all, but in Pakistan you see high
fences, burglary proof and some
architect will even go the extra mile
to provide escape routes for you
when they are designing your
building.
BAHARIA TOWN ISLAMABAD
TECHNOLOGY GAP
• The big gap in technology also
makes a lot of difference in the two
world’s designs
• The western architecture is backed
up by up to date technologies that
they may practically not need to
work too hard to get the building
done
COST
• Cost is also an influencing factor for
the designing
• It is far more expensive to build a
good house in Pakistan to the ones
you have in Europe
ECONOMY
• The economy of common man in
Pakistan does not give rooms for too
much of luxuries; Pakistan is
developing country so unnecessary
rooms that are in vogue in western
world are practically non-existent
here

CONCLUSIONS
&
RECOMMENDATIO
NS
CONCLUSIONS
• Muslim architecture is influenced by
the British architecture and if we still
can’t open our eyes Muslim
architecture may diminishes
• It not only, bounds architect's ideas,
approach or perception but also
paralyses his self ability
• Architectural work in Pakistan is
stagnant as no new innovations are
introduced, it is following the old
methodology in designing which is
Cont…
• Lack of knowledge, low investment
and demand for an excellent design
of a client persuade an architect to
show least interest in his field
• An architect hesitate to experience
new ideas
RECOMMENDATIONS
• We need to implement our own ideas
that suit our culture and
environmental conditions
• The new institutions and schools
must be opened where students can
learn about their culture and polish
there architectural skills from the
grass root level
• The architects must posses belief in
their ability and skills
