1 THESSALONIANS 3:6-7 But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and brought us good news of your

faith and love, and that you always have a good remembrance of us, greatly desiring to see us, as we also to see you Therefore, brethren, in all our affliction and distress we were comforted concerning you by your faith.

Introduction: All the basic ingredients that our Lord wants in a church were found in the Thessalonians congregation. The Epistle that Paul wrote to the Thessalonians lays out for us the pattern of the church that Christ builds. Objective: as we look at some basic principles in the Epistle to the Thessalonians, The Lord will help us to see what He desires from us and how our church can be what He wants her to be.

We have some spiritual elements for our church to become dynamic church. I. A Saved Church. 1:1-4 an effective church is the church who knows very well that they were really saved. 1 Thess.1:5

II. A Surrendered Church. 1:6 Ye became followers of us and of the Lord. III. A Suffering Church. 1:6b having received the word in much affliction.

IV. A Soul Winning Church. 1:7for from you the word of the Lord sounded V. A Second- Coming Church. 1:10 and to wait for His Son from heaven,

VI. A Steadfast Church. 1 Thess. 3:8 The Thess. Church stood firmly on the Word of God. Look 1:5-6; 2:13. Standing fast in the Lord means two things: not wavering doctrinally and maintaining steadfast love. How exciting it is when a church doesnt waver from its doctrine and its commitment to love one another.

VII. A Submissive Church. 5: 12-22 The final principle isnt obvious as the others. In no other Epistle does Paul make as many unqualified and undefended commands as in this one. for example, when Paul wrote to the Corinthians, it was necessary for him to defend his instructions Because they did not have a submissive mentality Of the Thessalonians. 1 Cor 1;10-2:5; 2 Cor

Paul didnt need to give a detailed explanation of his instructions to the Thessalonians because they were a submissive church. Can you imagine a preacher getting up on Sunday morning and saying only, my text for this morning is 1 Thess. 5:16 Rejoice evermore. now let us pray. Next week we will taking verse 17.
